Do you have any playable characters in your town besides your mayor?

I plan on making an alt soon so I can decorate a new house! He'll be based off of one of my OCs so I plan on giving him a certain theme.

The only problem is that I don't have any space to put a new house...

that's why you have to reserve space early into having the game! The first 2 houses in my first town were on the same day, number 3 came later in the year though I did use a signpost to block someone from moving it, and my 4th came late last year or very early into the new year.

my second town had one human established the first day, I moved in another one about a month later(in game time), and about a month after that(in game time) I decided to make a third human. Do I want a fourth human at some point? Definitely but i'll have to use the signpost reserve method when I decide on a spot since I don't want a fourth human at this time.

Nah. I don't have enough space for another house too. I never really plan out my town. I don't have anymore ideas for room design either. It still looks good though. I made a grand entrance leading up to the mayor's house to compensate. XD

I have another character for a school and I am thinking about making the other two houses a food court.

I have 4 players in both of my towns, but in LuzDale I really only play with 2 (the other two are just for adding to the story and storage) and in YumStar I play with my mayor and my little brother uses his character.

I don't, although I've thought about it before. I just think it would get in the way and be a hassle unless the only reason you had one was for QR codes.

I have a 2nd character, mostly for the extra QR codes. I wouldn't want to have any more than 2 villagers in my town though.
