Do you have a theme for your villager choices?

I asked this question a long long time ago for NL, and the majority opinion was I'm weird for theming my villagers. I wondered if with the increased personalization aspect of NH if this has changed?

Do you choose your villagers based on a theme? This could be by species, color, style, whatever. Why or why not?

I have a forest animal theme, which I have never found limiting because all of my favorite animals are forest creatures anyways.

Nah, I just go with whoever I like most and build my town areas around that. For example, I put a library near Sylvana's house and a gym outside Ribbot's.

my theme is mostly newbies and rare species- that's it tbh. i have the Octopi and im aiming for mostly new villagers

Yes. Like you I have a forest/woodlands theme for my island (three deers, two wolves, a rabbit, a sheep, a goat, a squirrel... and a cat lol). Deers are my favourite animal so it was easy to fit my dreamies list around that theme

I just love the deer/squirrel/cubs so much that a single elephant or whatever started looking weird to me lol

Oh absolutely! There are lots of non woodland animals that I love the look of, but I’m sticking to my theme! (Wish I had a cub though - Maple is so precious!)

I love maple so dearly. I gave her that cute little plaid heart apron and she wears it all the time and my he art melts looking at her. I have no wolves currently but am trying to maybe replace Tammy with Audie, we shall see lol. NL I had like 3 wolves but they just didn't make my list this time around

My current villagers don't have a theme, they're just the ones I like best from each personality. But if we had a couple more slots then I might have themed areas. Like, Drago and Phoebe are both mythical and I'd love to give them their own little neighborhood on a secluded cliffside. But Drago doesn't quite make the cut with only ten slots

Wolves are my fave species atm! I only have Chief and Wolfgang, but I can see why people have wolf only islands. All their designs are amazing!

I like going for a natural theme! I like all of my residents to look like real animals in terms of color palette and design.

As my signature says, I wanted to make my island an Aviary with only bird villagers (Songbirds, chickens, ducks, eagles, ostriches, penguins). In conjunction with this, I'm having a garden/nature theme accompany this since I feel like it fits the most with an actual aviary.

If they look cute or not weird then they can stay. I try to have a variety. I don’t really have a theme for my island so no theme for my villagers. Also since this is my first AC game I’m pretty open to trying most villagers with the exception of a few definite no’s (pietro cuz I don’t like clowns and bearold cuz yuck)

Kinda! Most of my villagers "fit" the forest aesthetic I'm going for, but it's kinda coincidental. There's a fraction of them that don't fit, but I don't mind.

So based on the poll results my need for a cohesive full island theme is still weird lol

I originally wanted a forest theme excluding a few of my favorites, but I haven't stuck to that. I ended up with a few villagers I wasn't planning on keeping forever so I never ended up pursuing it. I'd only have to switch around a few villagers, but it seems more like a hassle now lmao
