When I first started I always made a second character, two houses, two lives can be a lot to keep up with...the towns with none are easier. So positives and negatives..extra sets of holiday and event sets, extra clothes and storage...but once you get Gracie and can stop hoarding clothes that are reorderable, it's all about extra birthday or event stuff.

I am at the point where I am ready to delete the alts in towns, for anyone who has done this...what did you do with all of their stuff let it disappear except specialty stuff, or literally yard sell the reorderables..I'm talking long time alts...it's too much a pain to play them it's like playing twice...but I need to go through his post and check for special items or dlc then I don't know..Keep or delete?

I would keep it makes it more interesting for me! I also make a theme for each house I have a fitness center with a hospital and sport team, a school, and my all purpose mall with a arcade, cafe' store, and a grocery! I think having the extras are great

I've never had an alternate character, though I've considered using one--a boy--just to add pattern space. Yes, my closet is full and my house is littered with bushes/saplings. But to be honest, if it weren't for those things--which will disappear once I start landscaping more--I'd have plenty of space. Despite items being un-orderable, I don't hoard them. I ask myself: am I EVER going to use this given my personality and "theme" for my town? If not, I sell it. That resolve has opened up a lot of space.

If I ever make an alt, I'm afraid he'll just be the male version of my Mayor. I'd have to work to make him different, but still have that same familiar feeling. That seems like a lot of work at current. But maybe. Maybe one day when there's not much else to do in my town.

I know you asked about deleting other characters, but I thought the opinion of someone who never had one might help. I don't miss not having one, plus I don't have to invest time playing one.

I have a permanent alt in my main town, and I'm going to be using all the character slots in my second town.

I have three permanent alternative characters. I went through a stage where I really wanted to delete one and bring them back in later because I don't really like the face I got for them but they ended up sticking around as I had quite a bit of progress on their house and what not. I mainly have them for the extra houses to decorate and storage space. Oh and the appearance, the different clothes and hairstyles are fun to play around with.

I don't, and I don't think I ever will, either. idk, it just feels fake... Unless my mom wanted to start playing or something, I wouldn't make an alternate just to hold more items; I use the museum displays for that. I'd sooner get another cartridge.

I have an alt. character and I play her as much as I play my main character. They patrol their own areas of the town and keep whatever they find. I don't think it complicates things at all. And it interesting to see how the villagers interact with each character. Like the jocks calling my alt. (a girl) "Ladybro". That's just weird.

It's also fun to see the different things Kapp'n says and sings to them. Girls get hit on, boys get fart jokes.

I like this idea...keeping him to redo his home into like a town PWP like what you mentioned so visitors I'd like to have it be like a 50s style cafe, and other rooms like this seems like work but if I forget playing him and use the house right that sounds fun, hard but fun.

Yes exactly! I'm trying to finish all 3 but their all WIP but I know when your done it's great to look at and fun to make! :)

I do have a non alt town and the problem is it feels like playing the day twice with one so it's freeing but he's been there soo long...so unless I really want an extra house I mean it's paid off but having to play two is annoying..if I give something from mayor to villager they sell to alt...house being paid means could keep it but all in all I don't like playing the day a second time with tasks for the alt, so I will likely clear out his stuff and be done with the alts.

I am interested in why people like having them, I have more than one town so if not it wouldn't be as bad but that in itself is enough to keep up with. In CF I had three but here, I think it takes more time if you have multiple towns anyway. This was helpful especially about not having one at all, it does make it feel like work but undoing a fully done house and just deleting seems harsh so maybe I should garage sell his stuff first or something free cataloging of male items something like that. Getting rid of him seems a chore but not having him may be freeing. I wonder if the villagers will remember him, lol.

I will likely keep the house as I like that and it's done, how often do you actually play all three alts peaches?

I had a second character in my old town, and miiiiiiiight add one in my new town. if I need it. the original reason I'd added Bertha was for pattern slots. I'd considered using paths... but ended up not doing so. she was also used as storage, as my closet ended up ENTIRELY full of clothes. other than that, I didn't do anything with her. she didn't have a fully expanded house or anything.

The only time I had one was in city folk but in new leaf I try to convince my self to sell items I hoard so I don't make another character.

I like to have a male and a female character because it is fun to try all of the different outfits available. I also like having more space available to play with patterns. I might make another character just to design another house, but the two I have now are kinda crowded and I feel like I would just clutter the third one as well. I also like having one house spot available to help with plot resetting just to keep villagers out of walk ways.

Like every few days to talk to villagers and to fun stuff! Unlike my mayor which I play everyday

I love decorating houses. All of my five towns have all four characters houses. I don't play with the alts very often. The extra space is nice and I love having the extra pattern space. It also helps keep me interested in the game longer.I have to earn more bells for the extra alts houses, and think of how the houses should be decorated.

When I add a second character it will most likely be 100% to have a second house to decorate, or maybe more pattern spaces. I don't really feel the need to play the whole game on a second character as much. I'll be paying for upgrades & buying furniture and all of that from my main and just dropping the money/items on the ground to be picked up by the second.

I normally don't like to have alts because I like taking care of one thing at a time, but in order to fit all of the seasonal paths I want into my town and wear different clothing, I'll have to have at least three. Oh well- it's not that bad imo. There's more storage space, more things to collect, and lots more to do! I don't want to get the alts right away though.

If I were you, I would keep the alts. You don't necessarily have to play with them all the time. Use them for path storage if you want to! Just keep your mayor active and you should be fine (n˘v˘?)?
