I guess it could have been worse for me, but my middle school years were rough until eight grade. Academic wise, Junior year is kicking my @$$, my New Year's Resolution was to pray to the gods that I pass Algebra II...
This thread makes me glad that I've done away with the antiquated educational system. If I were to be stuck for another year of studying, then I'll be agonized. For the most part, it basically boils down to remembering everything rather than genuinely learning, in which we would most likely forget some of them even after a few weeks. If you don't "study", you'll be punished. This was especially egregious in primary and secondary schools, while colleges/cegeps still do that to basic classes to some extent.
If you knew that the educational system has been implemented during the 19th century and hasn't changed much since then, then it becomes clear enough that it isn't designed to cater people in the 21st century. During the 19th century, teachers treat their students as products and the classes as assembly lines, rewarding those who works hard because it was the only way to succeed in life. Since today's jobs and problems are much more varied than what the current educational system seems to think. How comes the world evolves but not the long outdated educational system?
The schools aren't inherently bad, they are simply outdated and needs to be addressed as soon as they can. To further understand what I was trying to say, I'd like you to read the article and watch all its videos (if you have an hour or two to spare). This one and the other can be an interesting read as well.
