Do you give your Mayor and other characters a personality?

To celebrate my 3rd character's arrival to my town, I was wondering if you guys give your characters a background or a personality and take your sweet time designing and decorating their homes to suit their established character details? I'm very curious! Tell me all about your mayors and alts.!

Less so with the mayor, but my (male) pattern mule only wears Gracie accessories and suits and has the ID quote of "I just live here...". He is the town's Only Sane Man. Curlos is his bad influence friend (though he's a plaza character...he tends to go where I go when playing him).

a lot of times i've found myself stumped with what option to choose in reply to a villager, but i never really was one to want everything perfect! i gave my mayor, Oakton, a whole personality and it actually helps me with some decisions? he's actually quite narcissistic but caring and very sweet to his faves, but makes sure to be as nice as he can to everyone no matter how hard it is for him. so when some villagers ask me to do them a favor, i used to freak out and say yes to every one and let them down when i couldn't get them what they asked for. now, sometimes i find myself asking "what would oakton say" and it's actually a lot easier for me to make decisions now haha!!

if anything i imagine him like slightly nicer bill cipher ;P

My Mayor is the only "real one". Pansage and Panpour are nothing but alter-egos of her. The Pansear I'm playing in HHD is also an alter-ego. Anymore AC games I play are alter-egos of the same person, even the one that might be coming on the switch.

Pansage is the "smarty" and "conductive" side of Pansear. He is nerdy typically with glasses and a handsome sweater vest.
Panpour is the "cutesy" and "elegant" side of Pansear. She is depicted as "your average female acnl player who owns a pastel town".

Pansear herself is "wild" and "eager". I can really describe her as the "uchi" part of me.

Yeah, I like to come up with little stories for them in my head. Everyone in my main town has a “job” since their houses mimic either cafes, campgrounds, inns etc. I’m not that creative though so even my side characters have dumb names (like “Eggs” lol) and the other just has my middle name. One of my characters in my main town is literally named and designed after Charlie from IASIP, down to the messy apartment room. That was a lot of fun to design haha.

I play on one character actively. The others are reclusive.

Not really. I only ever have my character (the mayor). The mayor is me. So no reason to give it a personality. I'm just playing a game.

Well, you're right! It's a game so you're free to do whatever haha! Some people don't and some do~

I sure do. That's basically one of my favorite things to do, if I'm being honest, lol.

This. I started this save file, so I would have a place to be myself openly. I'm tired of having to hide.

Oh absolutely. I've started a fanfiction with my mayor and all the villagers (plus an AC character I made that isn't in the game) and each character has their own personality, and the villagers' personalities are based on how they are in-game. I always liked thinking my villagers were each their own person and not just characters in a videogame.
