I’ve had towns in both city Folk and NL. I find that the few times I invited villages I had before, it just makes me feel sad. I don’t even know why.
I thought it would make me giddy, like I was hanging out with an old friend. Nope. It just feels... weird. It’s really not the same. I’m actively seeking out new faces.
I seeked out old villagers like Gaston, Ruby & Nan. Just trying to feel some nostaglia or something I guess. Coco was my all time favourite though in NL and I haven't invited her back worrying she won't be the same.
I've sought a few villagers I had way back on the Gamecube. - Either because they only came back in NL's welcome amiibo update, or because I've barely seen them since. Honestly though, I've found most of them disappointing, I miss Biff being a forgetful dork.
Been actively avoiding dreamies I had in NL, I most of them I know if I got back they'd probably never leave, and I wanted to have some more variation this game.
I looked for most of the cat villagers I have currently because of having them in the past games. In new leaf I had Moe, Tom and Katt long term. I had Kabuki in new leaf for a short time and loved him. I got Olivia because I had her back on the game cube version of the game and she was a favorite of mine.
I don't want all the same villagers, so the other villagers I have or plan to get are ones I had for a short time or never really had before, like Tangy.
in the original i had puddles, and ive had her in every game since. somehow i just got super lucky because until new horizons i never sought her out, but of course now im very attached haha.
I've avoided them. I wanted to experience new villagers I've never had. When I did island hopping if a villager caught my eye I brought them over. I did invite Genji and Diana who are/is in my main town in new leaf though.
Antonio is the only villager I’ve sought out again. He moved away from my Wild World town when I was 11 and I cried. So getting him back in NL felt more like closure!
I wouldn’t have sought him out in new Horizons because I always want brand new villagers, but he randomly happened to be my starter jock and now I feel really guilty thinking of letting him go. He will always be my favorite villager, but a tiny part of me also regrets starting with him just because I probably don’t have the willpower to let him move, but I always want a completely new cast of residents on my island. All my villagers from Feldspar are still out there living their lives! It feels weird to duplicate new versions of them over into this different town.
I know what you mean. You remember them from old games, but they don't treat you like an old friend. And they've changed a lot.
I have mixed opinions on this. Vesta was in my GCN town as a little kid, so it felt a bit fated when she was my first ever mystery islander. I took her in and she's still here. (Picked up Nan from somebody's void though, so I'll probably let Vesta move to keep things fresh) I'm also OK with having villagers return if they never lived with me that long, and I've forgotten a lot of dialogue/personality from old games anyway.
The exception is Bob. He's my bestest buddy, never left my NL town(s). But the lazies are notably different this time, so when he randomly showed in my campsite, I decided not to invite him. I have his amiibo for when I'm ready, but enjoying my new friends for now.
No repeats in ACNH. In ACNL I made the mistake and let Teddy live in 2 of my towns. It wasn't the same.
In ACNH Kody was the starter on my 2nd Island. Kody lives in my Guest town in ACNL. As soon as he asked to go I moved him out. 2 months later he moved in to my main island from 2nd island void (Nintendo why?). Used an amiibo card to move him out. Next visit to mystery island Kody was one of the options.
The only villager I ever remember having is Stitches. I’m not actively seeking him out but I also wouldn’t mind having him on my island if fate decided to bring us back together! ₊ෆ⃛⁺
i’m seeking out a lot of my old villagers such as lolly, skye and sprinkle. it’ll feel odd having them since they’re still chilling in my abandoned new leaf town but i still love them and want to experience having them in new horizons, too ;u;
