Do you feel like you're grinding more in this game than in previous games? Do you enjoy it or does it burn you out?

I guess this question is more for those who don't make fast money by things like turnips etc. This game has a lot more stuff to spend your money on including all the bridges/inclines, moving buildings and the really expensive furniture items in the store. I find it really hard to save lots of money since I constantly have to take giant chunks out for this stuff so I feel like I spend more time catching bugs and fish to keep up than previous games.

Personally I don't mind all that much since I wouldn't have much else to do in my day if I weren't catching things, but I also feel perpetually poor and like I'm always being sucked dry lol.

There's the DIYs, which means a need for constant farming of resources. Even several of the recipes needs to a bit of grind to get. So yeah.

Before turnips, I didn’t understand how I was supposed to get anything done. To pay off your entire house while also building bridges and inclines without selling turnips seemed impossible.

honestly i feel like i’m grinding less. they’ve done a pretty good job with capping those sorts of things in this game as opposed to new leaf, like how they lowered tarantula spawns a while ago.

in new leaf a lot of the times i would go to tortimers island in the evening and just grind for golden stags for hours on end. in NH though my primary way of making money has been collecting fruit from my orchard when it grows and saving the expensive fish for CJ whenever i happen to catch them. in general it takes me at least a few weeks to pay things off like my house loan. gameplay pacing has been a lot slower this time around because of less grinding, i think - but it’s been very enjoyable!

i would dive for money bc it brings such a larger profit but the swimming sounds annoy me lol

Definitely less. We do need to suffer through Isabelle's announcement daily, but it sure beats resetting over and over time and time again until the new plot that appears is not right on top of your path, or having to spend an entire evening running around a tiny island to catch anything worth a few bells.

In this game I can mostly just do what I feel like doing, the bells I get from fishing/bug catching/diving are more than enough to let me build my island and the materials aren't hard to find at all (though I usually just get them from my overly full storage nowadays).

i havent played the previous game except for the GC one so yea... But I farm a lot and compare to other games like stardew I feel QoL is really lacking. By reading people post on this forum QoL is a big upgrade from previous iterations. So in a way I am happy I didn't play the previous gen.

Definitely grinding more. Burnt out? Not really. I take breaks and just go at my own pace so I can still enjoy it and not be burnt out.

It's easy enough to farm money from your daily money spot (if you plant 10k every day), the money rock, and selling off your spare fossils. CJ and Flick help in a pinch. I don't do turnips and have rarely needed bells.
I would grind in NL aaallll the time, mostly by going to Tortimer's like others in the thread. I've almost never had to in NH. And I'm still iffy on the night drop-box depositing right into your savings, but much like real life, it's easier to leave it there if it's never in your pockets. And I tend to piddle around the most at night anyway.

Compared to Wild World and New Leaf, I feel like New Horizons is the "easiest" game so far. It's not difficult to collect DIYs, it's possible to get a 5-star rating without consciously trying, it's easy to rack up those shiny Nook Miles. Compared to WW and NL, I took way less time to expand my house and pay off my loans. Catching bugs and fish also feels easier. (Except for fishing during the Bunny Day event. 😩 )

I don't think I've had to grind at all. The only grinding I did that felt like grinding was using the campsite method to get the animal I want. I don't want to repeat that experience. 😭

Find it easy to make money if you need to. Money trees, diving is good, turnips etc. At the beginning it seemed an impossible dream to pay off the mortgage 😳 ( bit like real life 😂)

I have stopped myself from wanting to grind. It is a shame that things like the fishing tournament are geared towards grinding and I felt I was going to fall into that trap... so now I am spreading getting all the items over multiple tournaments, since I have noticed how much I do not like grinding - it really takes away from my enjoyment of this otherwise chill, slow-paced game.

In all the other cases I have not felt the need at all. With occasionally buying and selling turnips I have almost paid off my house in this game, while in WW it took me years. It seems to be much easier to get money, items and in NH's case DIYs.

I’d say New Horizons is less grindy overall compared to older games imo. Animal Crossing has always had grindy and repetitive gameplay though at least as far as money making is concerned.

Making money is pretty easy though especially if you sell turnips, and once you have enough cash you don’t really have to grind unless you want to which I like.

I found that I was island hopping a lot - literally burned through 1000+ tickets. I guess I just find the gacha aspect of it to be addicting. Other than that I haven't grinded much

I haven't played any of the previous AC games so I cannot compare. When I just started with NH I did grind a lot (mostly fishing and bug catching), but as I have progressed in the game I have found other ways to make bells as well (fruits, turnips, waiting for CJ/Flick to sell and offcourse now also diving). There are so many different ways to make bells, it doesn't feel like a grind to me. I have also gathered a nice amount of resources, so I do not need to farm those often.

Not at all. If I don't feel like doing something I simply don't do it. There is no need to rush to have the perfect island - once you've done that there isn't much left to do.

I used to grind a lot and that was pretty much all I did on the game, as I found creating a shop and selling thing's on here to other people more fun and also a lot more natural to me (i'm not very creative love economy based games). However after I got burnt out and stopped playing for a couple months, I came back with a different perspective on the game. While i've not built too many areas, I have had so much fun trying to create different areas on my island, especially my Gym for Bam, and my Campsite Area which i'm still working on for the contest. To be fair i've never played any previous animal crossing games, but I feel like this game has a relatively healthy balance of grinding and gameplay, although it really depends on your current playstyle.

I used to a lot, just to catch up on things, but not anymore because of burnout and I lost my motivation to do so.

I’ve played definitely poured a lot more time and grinded much, much more on ACNH compared to ACNL (which I think I’ve only played 75 hours in total while I’ve already racked up 535+ hours on ACNH). I don’t really feel all that burnt out yet and actually enjoy grinding for diys (currently trying to get one last mermaid diy from pascal lol), bells, and right now I’m looking for pirate gullivar because I have so much pirate items I want.
Anyway! I still don’t feel burnt out to be honest! At least recently. There had been a period of time when I was grinding redd that I got sick of the game and stopped playing a bit lol.

When I started out I grinded random islands for materials, cut my trees for wood, made tarantula islands, etc. I sold turnips once and have around 7 mil bells and don't really feel the need to keep doing it since that's more than enough money in this game. After you pay off your house there's not much need for bells unless you like moving buildings around.

In New Leaf I spent hours consonantly grinding beetles and now I am barely catching fish/bugs unless I want models of them. Kind of sad but I just feel like there is better ways to make money in this game.

I'm definitely grinding a lot in this game, but I really enjoy it. If I feel burned out, then I just take a break and come back to it when I want to play it again later.
