I just had that. My island is getting a complete overhaul. I've been very uninterested in playing lately because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do. But today, my brain just conjured up a lot of ideas for my museum (the building I was struggling with the most) and now, I can't wait to get to work. I am not even going to keep the little neighborhood I had set up for my villagers because what I want to do isn't going to allow for that.

It's times like these where I'm so very VERY glad we have to option to change things around, otherwise, my town would gotten restarted.

Time to start earning them Bells because I got a buildings to move.

Sorry for the random post but I'm just excited!

yes! i’ve been having some issues with trying to figure out how to decorate near resident services and near one of my alt character’s houses but i’ve recently come up with a few ideas! it’s not much but it’s definitely a start :3

Funny enough, a lot of my favourite areas have been born from these types of moments. It's amazing how you sometimes plan something out, only to realize that it wasn't everything you had hoped it was. Only through experimenting do you finally get something you really love.

This happened to me with my island entrance. At first, I wanted to do the common waterfall entrance, and I thought it would have been perfect. After spending hours of trying to navigate waterscaping, I completely scrapped the idea and decided to do a rock garden entrance, which was something I didn't even imagine doing. And now, I'm so happy I made that decision.

Honestly, this is one of the reasons why I love this game, there's so much potential for creativity! :)

All the time!

I've learned not to get frustrated when I get in a rut anymore.

Just keep playing and eventually the inspiration will grab me.

It could take days or weeks, but it'll happen.

"Ah ha" moments are pretty much the root of my creativity 😆 I wish I didn't have to rely on them so much!

The other day I had one where I thought... I could totally move my main neighborhood and, instead, turn that area into a farmer's market. The actual farmer's market would then be turned into a neighborhood. I could even move my beach neighborhood and give my beach character a better yard, as well as a much niftier market.

I still have details to work out... and oh boy will it be expensive 😅

Yes, so true! I'm so used to restarting AC games, or being super tempted to, by this time. But this game has so much room to customize your island that I'm not getting that urge!

In fact, I'm wanting to see if I can play a FULL YEAR without restarting.
...We'll see 😛

Yeah, I had an idea in my head about certain areas and it wasn't turning out the way I wanted and it was getting a bit annoying and discouraging. But the aha moment has me excited to try and see if want to do plays out, and if not, then oh well. It never hurts to at least see how it turns out.

The thing I'm going to be doing the next few days is knocking down all my cliffs and getting rid of all the water. That way I can start from complete scratch on a completely flat and waterless island (although I have buildings on cliffs so it won't be completely flat but flat enough.

This is one of the big reasons I want the dream suite in this game! I just don't get very many creative ideas of what to do with my island, and it helps me so much to see what other people have come up with. I’ve been watching streams on Twitch, and that helps too, but it’s not the same as being able to walk around and explore on my own.

Ah congrats, so exciting!

I was ~almost~ happy with my island layout (though it is nothing compared to a lot of the ones I see on here!). Then I visited a friend's island today and liked hers WAY better and now I'm considering moving everything again :(

That's almost always how I decorate! It's usually a new item or DIY that sparks it. Sometimes even a new villager!
Getting the natural antique bed and clock within a week did it for my bedroom, and the mossy garden wall and gravel floor at the same Saharah visit for my bathroom. The black imperial dresser is the crux of my very not-usual-for-me living room.
I actually want to redesign my living room, but I'm in a furniture rut right now.

Me too! I can't do video tours at all.
I just worry it won't come back because it's surely a huge amount of data for Nintendo to store. But we're paying for it, right?

Thanks everyone. Yeah, we really need the Dream Suite back. I do like looking at other people creations. I hope we get it soon.

I had that about my museum, Audie's juice bar (that I'm now changing to an ice-cream parlor) and an area around my campsite.

For the camspite area I was thinking of an idea for a comic, and in the comic my character an another villager go fishing in a sinkhole filled with water looking for 'rare ore' which is actually all the ore not present in-game. Then it dawned upon me that I can literally make a sinkhoke filled with water in my huge un-used uninspired campsite area that was also on the second level.

I had that moment the other day when trying to figure out where to put my shops. I had Nook's on the beach, which was cute, but it left Able Sister's with no where to really go. I started using the dirt path that's been going around twitter, and it gave me the idea to set up the shops sort of like they were in Wild World since the path is nostalgic. Now my shop area is part of my island that I'm most proud of!

I’m just recently had some of these moments as well! Shortly after decorating the entrance of my museum and while I realigned my trees and adjusted the cliff to make room for some more, I came up with a few more ideas how to make the area look more interesting.

Some of the areas I’ve decorated so far, I based them on places in two of the Dragon Age games, one looser than the other. This recent idea wasn’t based on a screenshot that I was looking at, but still gave a DA feel to it, at least to me :). Still have a lot to do till I’m done with that area as well as the other areas but was really excited about coming up with a couple ideas as I was adjusting some cliffs.

I was going bonkers because I couldn't get anything done with my island. There were flowers everywhere and my villagers' houses were in super inconvenient spots. At some point last week I decided to create a residential area so I could work on the rest of my island eventually. I destroyed an extra section of cliff I had in my museum section and suddenly had a whole bunch of space. This was what I used to start forming a neighborhood. I know grouping villagers together is called generic and unnatural by some, but I actually quite enjoy how it's coming together. Lining up the houses, applying fencing, and decorating the yards in a way that matches the villager has been super therapeutic. It feels so good to actually have a part of my island where I know what I'm doing with it.

Yes! Literally a few hours ago, I stared at my map for a while, trying to figure out where to put furniture, buildings, houses ect. After a while, I finally got some sort of layout idea ^^

While I was looking around my island, I had an idea so I basically terraformed a cliff behind residence services because it looks neat. And then I took down my waterfall entrance because it took lots of space on my island as well.

So an update. I started messing around with my museum just to dabble around and see if the idea I had was going to work, and well

It's turning out way better than I had thought. Best part is, it's not affecting the villager neighborhood at all, so I don't have to get rid of it. That's the neighborhood back there. Well part of it at least

The only things getting affected by this is the Able Sister and Nooks Cranny, so I will have to figure out where I want to put those shops.

I don't like how the museum is kind of uneven so I decided to put bushes over on this side and a bench to kind of disguise the unevenness

So in short, I didn't have to tear down my island and rebuild it as I had thought, which is a relief because it was a lot of money moving those villagers houses, and with just three houses left to move, it would have been a bummer if I had to move all 10 over again.

Most of my "aha" moments is when I figure out how to un-trap myself so I don't have to use the SOS helicopter, lol.

Oh but learning how to create custom design borders, especially the tiny corners.
