I've only ever heard of people chewing on things like styluses and pencils because they also smoke cigarettes. From what I understand, it's a bad habit, since chewing reminds you of smoking, so it's a comforting gesture.

I don't chew in mine anymore, just hold it in my mouth. :/
And I'm 12, lol. Never smoked, never will.

Lets see, I'll hold my 3DS stylus in my mouth, occasionally chew on my shirt collar, and weirdest of all chew the straws in my drinks.

I actually have a psych issue where I put stuff in my mouth and chew on it when I'm either bored, stressed, tired, etc.

My stylus hardly stays in the slot anymore and I'm always afraid of losing it somewhere not in the house. Haha.
