Soo, the Chinese festival called Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節) or Moon Festival (八月節) is coming up, which means delicious moon cakes (月饼) will be out in stores, some already out now *^* .

The most popular moon cakes are Hong Kong style. Golden brown with pretty designs, a paste inside (like lotus or meng bean), and an egg or two in the center, to represent the moon. It usually has a sweet flavor, is moist, and the egg is dried and salty. Other fillings can be nuts and dried fruit. (I dislike this flavor type)

The festival has different reasons for celebrating, many different reasons.
Generically, its association with the full moon, as well as the traditions of moon worship and moon gazing.
-Its held in early September or October. This year it is September 8th.

If you have a market that sells these delicious cakes, definitely try it. My personal favorites are the piggie shaped ones (no egg inside).

I celebrate it!
The egg tastes gross to me! And I've never seen animal shaped ones.......but it looks cool!

I don't, but my parents do.
I haven't eaten moon cake in so many years. It's because I throw up whenever I eat one, no matter which kind I eat. ;A; It makes me sad because I really like moon cake.

No, but I'm starting to wish I did.

I can't wait for fall for pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin everything, and Halloween, and haunted hayrides, and corn mazes, though.

I prefer only 1 egg, cause 2 eggs is way too salty and dry. I usually don't finish the center if it has egg, but a small amount is pretty good ^^ The animal ones are cute with no egg, and the eggs are made out of some sort of tasteless nut o:

Me tooo~ I love autumn themed food and just the season and events in general, colored leaves, and sweater weather. Sigh, too bad California doesn't feel like the season -ever-. It's sunny like summer year round. -_- I can't wait to visit my parents on the east coast during this season.

Sweater weather is a lie made by the fashion industry. You either live somewhere where it's too hot, or somewhere were it goes from hot to cold with little in between. But I much prefer fall fashion.

I celebrate it every year *o* (I come from a long line of Chinese people uwu)

fatty glutinous mooncakes r yum
yes celebrated in my household

I live in East Asia and I did celebrate it xD My only favourite is snow skin mooncake =D

...What? I have never heard of it, haven't even tried a moon cake.

You should try it out if you have an asian market near you c: Or order online if you're super curious :D
a good online brand I know of is 生計月餅 or called ShengKee

Yes, I've always celebrated it :) Mooncakes are the best! Too bad that they're rather unhealthy, though. :P At least they're not as bad as 油条...
This is making me hungry XD

Never heard of it. But I like Moon Pies. Does that count? :P

funny cause the literal translation of 月餅 is moon pie, not cake. but I think we just use moon cake in english to prevent any confusion with that dessert :p I looove moon pies too c: now I want a moon pie lol. my fave are the hello kitty lotte pies. yep.
