Do you care whether art is genuine or fake?

Has to be genuine if I want it for Blathers but some of the fakes definitely have their own charm! I love the fake informative statue which is an unusual blue but glows at night! Much better than the genuine imo!

For decorating I don't mind the fakes. I usually can't tell the difference and need to use a guide anyway. I always buy anything real that I need for the museum first, though.

At the moment yes as I'm wanting the real art to donate to the museum, I was much too quick on Redd's recent trip to my island as I mistook a piece of art from some furniture he was selling so I bought a fake ;__;

My island has eight statues on display. All of them are genuine except one of the rock-head statues because I think it looks better that they have two slightly different facial expressions from each other. It was very expensive as I had to buy (with TBT) one genuine to donate and one for my island as Redd has never had any statues for sale yet.

As long as my art gallery isn't complete, all I care about are the genuine artwork. Otherwise, I am completely fine with fake paintings or statues.

I decorate with the fakes. For most of them the difference doesn't take away from appearance. The fake ancient statue is my favorite. I have a whole room decorated around him. Also have one in my island entry way...lol

I want real art for the museum. If I get fake art as a gift or on a day where Redd has no real pics and is not around for any of my friends, I don't mind. But my main goal is to fill the museum, so unless it's a dupe I'd rather not have a fake.

Yes to this haha. I know the difference is barely noticable, but I do intend on replacing my fakes with genuine art once I complete my museum.

I do, since I want to have the art exhibit in the museum complete at some point, so I like to grab whatever genuine pieces of art Redd has whenever he comes to my island. (I am in no rush to complete that exhibit in the museum though.)

Now that the visitor schedules have been updated, it’s looking more like 2030.

Yes and no. I need genuine art for the museum, so buying those from Redd is a priority, but for decorating, I'm fine with the fakes. I may swap a few out, once I've donated, but I'm not stressing over it.
