Do you care whether art is genuine or fake?

When decorating with statues and paintings, do you care about them being genuine? Why or why not?

i think i don't, unless i get one of that statue where it had bat wings instead of regular wings. only because of aesthetic purposes.

For decoration purposes, no.. I use fake ones because they're way cheaper. And on most of them you can hardly see the difference

The museum gets the real stuff, I get the knockoffs. Eerily similar to real life....

For some people, the fake art is considered a work of art itself. The "cursed" paintings and statues are highly sought after by some people.

If it's genuine I feel I have to give it to Blathers, so for statues I am happy when it's fake, then I can use it for decorating! Some of the fakes are funny anyway, so I think they have their own charm.

if it’s for decoration, i prefer the fake variant. but if i need it to donate to blathers, obviously i’d prefer the genuine variant lol

I prefer the genuine artwork for both decorating and for donations; I like how the genuines look better. The only fake that I might eventually look at getting is the informative statue. We’ll see though; I might consider using other fakes once I get all the genuine ones donated.

i do prefer some of the fakes, like i got the ancient statue cause i like the alien antenna. Some just barely make a difference anyway like beautiful statue

But, yeah. I care only about the ones I have zero interest in decorating with, because I'm only gonna donate them, obviously. But there are various fakes I'd keep around for decorative purposes.

I donated all my genuine already to the museum and right now I'm using a fake gallant statue. I thought the book he was holding was nicer looking than the real one. I'm using two genuine beautiful statues though not that the fake isn't nice looking its quite nice from the back with the necklace. Also I can't remember if I'm using a fake or real valiant statue but both are great!

actually not sure if it's still on the game. there are a few unpredictable variations of fake art now so idk. but i think if it does, people would have looked for it and sold those now. it definitely fits the halloween theme if you're going for that.

Nope. But I will admit that the gallant statue does look rather silly holding a book. I wish the fake gallant statue still had him have a towel going behind his neck like in New Leaf.

Well, I'm only buying painting right now to donate. If red comes by with painting I already have, I'm most likely gonna buy a genuine (can you buy a genuine if you already have one? I mean, that wouldn't make sense unless Redd swiped from Blathers).

Depends on each statue. For valiant and beautiful I wouldn't care. However if it's something like the gallant or motherly, I would only do the genuine ones because they look weird. For for the fakes I mentioned, the difference between them and their genuine counterparts isn't so noticeable.

I only care if it's going to Blathers! If it's just for display, who cares! Unless the statue is odd (like the informative statue, it's blue for some reason) or really different in some way!

Yes, because I literally only have one piece in my gallery that's real, I'm so exhausted with the fakes

I definitely want real art to donate for the museum, otherwise I could care less if I have real or fake artwork for decoration!
