Do you care if visitors talk to your island villagers?

Hi, I hope I’m posting in the right place. I was just wondering how people feel about island visitors coming onto your island and talking to your visitors? Is it ok to speak to your island residents and if it’s not allowed is their a reason why, does talking to them affect anything? Thanks

In New Horizons, it's fine. Since the villager dialogue about visitors is unavoidable now, it makes no difference whether people talk to them or not. In New Leaf, it was a bigger deal since if a visitor spoke to a villager, that villager would just never shut up about it lol.

Not at all. It could get annoying in New Leaf for sure but I also feel like such a big part of AC for me is interacting with other players, it's a bit odd to me that people get so intense about interacting with villagers like that! (and to be honest I... also don't totally understand the super intensity about picking flowers or shaking trees either but like at least that has a temporary visual impact... just to me it's a game that involves daily changes... but I still do my best to respect other people's preferences!)

I mean, it is -technically- taking an item from them that you didn't ask permission to take, and that's not really cool. Even if it's a renewable resource it's the principal, you know? If someone asked me if they could take some flower tops or fruit, I'd absolutely say yes. But if they just took it I'd be a tad miffed.

Anyway, I don't think it makes a big difference if they DO talk to them. To be honest, it kind of weirds me out how my neighbors keep asking about people who spent a couple of minutes on my island to trade items 😛 I mean, unless the visitor and I arranged a trade, we trade, and then they insist on running around and going to track down and chat with every villager, I wouldn't care.

Back in new leaf I didn't really want people talking to my villagers.
I don't really mind when they talk to them now!

I wonder if when a villager mentions a visitor if that means they are in their void queue. Marshal mentioned someone that came over for a trade and their island name, and said something like "I wonder what it's like over there..." Keep wondering, you're not going anywhere.

I sort of wish it were like New Leaf where only if you actually talked would they name you, but I don't mind either way. If someone is curious about a villager they can talk to them. :)

In past games I kind of didn't like it because then my villagers would keep talking about the visitors for WEEKS. But in this game, villagers talk about visitors regardless of whether the visitor ever talked with them, so it makes no difference. Plus now they only seem to talk about visitors for a day or two, so it wouldn't be a huge deal either way.

So, I don't mind at all!

I like when they talk about visitors and it can be helpful when something goes wrong in your town. If a visitor picks all your fruit the villagers will tell you later. I have 2 islands and main island drops by all the time to pick the fruit. The villagers let me know that Lily took all the fruit.
If someone buys artwork from Redd their name and island is listed on the sold sign.

In ACNL I only opened my guest town to visitors and loved when my friends talked to the villagers.

Oh for sure, I think it's totally impolite. I just also think people can tend to overblow it... and plus it's just kind of a side effect of having randos come over, when not all of them might *really* know all the real codes of proper etiquette or also just might not care. Like... "kinda miffed" is probably about the right response and I think it's just sort of a risk that has to be accepted if you let people have free reign, unfortunately! Or being sure to leave feedback, fencing off areas/flowerbeds you're worried about, etc. just, I do think it's also on the person opening up their island to be sure anything they're that worried about isn't accessible.

Talk away! As long as I'm not in a hurry feel free to chitchat with any nearby villagers if you please. Check out their homes, grab a diy from them, see what their facial expressions are like, enjoy the visitor dialogue...I'm not bothered if you're curious about one of my villagers. :)

I don't care what people do on my island, as long as they don't pluck the flowers or put up obscene clothing in my clothes shop. You wanna explore and talk to my villagers? By all means, go for it.
