Nah, I really don't care. I sometimes look at the tier lists to see how "in demand" a camping villager is, but if I like them, I like them and there's nothing that'll really change that. Heck, almost every cranky villager is immediately deemed D tier and I'm just like whyyyyy they deserve love too
Not at all. Maybe for Marshal. Everyone (most of people) finds him cute so I find him cute too. But he's really cute. It's my personal opinion. I know in the opposite Raymond is very popular but I don't like him at all. But in general, I suppose people base their choice about the physical appareance of the villagers. Tastes depend of the person, but most of the time, people would prefer Julian over Chops. But sometimes you should like someone who is not that good-looking and it's fine, fortunately we don't all have the same tastes.
Now I've done my dreamies list with and only with my preferred villagers (and some who match the Asian theme of my future island). Some are really popular, I'm human I love good-looking villagers lol but I don't care of other people's opinion.
No, I don't consider the popularity of a Villager when choosing who comes to my island. I mainly base my decision on whether I like their design and personality.
I don't. I just invite whoever I like or seems interesting.
However if alot of people brag about a villager I haven't had, it makes me want to try them out out of curiosity.
At first I did, it's because I wanted the best villagers. But now I just chose the ones I think are cute and fit my island theme. Right now I have a tropical island theme so my villagers are tropical/beach themed.
In the beginning I did for some villagers such as Raymond, but for the most part I hunted blind cause I didn't want to spoil the possibilities of who/what was out there and I wanted to judge who I liked for myself
I don't like villager tier lists cause I feel it limits everyone's choices artificially when none of the villagers have any major differences outside of aesthetics, and it's always the same like 10 villagers over and over again
For my villagers, I just choose who I liked personally rather than how well-liked they are by others. Some happens to be popular (Diana), others not so much.
I do sometimes look at tier lists, but it's more out of curiosity. Sometimes I find it unfortunate that some villagers aren't as popular as others, and I didn't understand how some villagers are popular (Dom/Cookie/Apple for example, no offense to those who liked them though) or hated (some kangaroos and eagles), but they don't particularly affect my personal preferences.
Not at all. I just recently found out about the tier lists, and some of my favorite villagers were in the bottom tiers! I didn't have any favorites in the top tier.
I tend to like villagers based on their aesthetic and personality. If a villager is number 1 on the lists, the absolute most popular, but their colors clash with my island aesthetic? Or their personality is meh? I'd rather go with an unpopular villager I really like instead.
I've never worried about which villagers are supposedly "popular" and which aren't. I chose all of the villagers on my first island by the feeling I got when I interacted with them (for my second island, I allowed random assignment). This led to me having more normal and peppy villagers, but it worked for me! They're all very sweet!
I don't care about the popularity of a villager whatsoever when I decide who moves in. Take Lopez for example. He's not the most popular deer villager by a long shot, but I adore him so much because of how cool he looks to me. Dotty is sort of another example. She's not as popular as let's say Bunnie, Chrissy & Francine, Genji or Sasha, but she's my ultimate dream villager. Heck, I even made her my camp caretaker in Pocket Camp, and I'm a male player!
Ultimately, I kind of take looks into consideration over how popular a villager is in general. Chevre is one villager a lot of people find to be popular; I'm really not a huge fan of her myself mostly due to her big eyes looking sort of bug-like to me (go ahead and beat me to a pulp). It's the complete opposite opinion of Cookie, who's large facial features I actually like. Maybe it's because Cookie is a dog and Chevre is a goat? I'm not sure. These are fictional characters we're talking about, after all.
Like many others in this thread, popularity doesn't really matter to me. I chose who I wanted in my town before I was aware of how popular they were. AItough it did used to feel nice to hear, "omg you have that villager?" when I worked hard to get them, now that amiibos are a thing, they're not as difficult to obtain, lol.
I have my favourites and that won't change. Sure, a few of them have been on tier lists, but that doesn't matter when you choose favs based on design rather than popularity. My favourite villager, Drago, is in the lower tiers right now. I'll still always have Drago on my island/town/whatever no matter if he is number 1 or number 400.
Nope not at all. I ignore tier lists tbh, but I do happen to like a fair amount of the more popular villagers, so I suppose my taste is kind of vanilla in that sense lol. I try not to let tier lists affect how I feel about villagers, but I will admit that the hype for Raymond actually killed him for me. I liked him more back when he was leaked, but once the game dropped and everyone wanted him, it admittedly made me like him less, idk. It just felt so intense and he felt overhyped. Thankfully the reverse hasn't happened! Some of my favourite villagers on my island that are less popular are Piper, Raddle, and Quinn. I think Quinn especially is a villager no one really cares about, but she quickly became ones of my favourites.
Hmm, well I just invite whoever I think looks cool or cute. Sometimes they’re high tier, some times they’re not.
I will say though, when im villager hunting, I’ll go ahead at take a picture with whoever I think is cute and sometimes those who are popular. I won’t take them if I don’t want them, but I like taking pictures with them.
Some of my faves are quite popular like my bb sherb and of course Diana, but I didn’t really consider how popular they were, they’re just both so cute to me!
Back when you’d have to rely on cycling threads to get specific villagers, yes…because if you let them go you’d know getting high tier villagers back would be a pain and most likely tbt costly.
With the amiibo cards, it’s easier to find villagers in general, so I no longer care if high tier ones come or go.
