Do you always get Katie within 3 days of someone bringing her to your town?

When someone "drops" Katie off in your town, do you always get her within the three days (New Leaf towns only)?

I can confirm she will make appearances without being dropped off as long as you've interacted with another town. I'm trying to figure out if being dropped off guarantees an appearance every time with the New Leaf title.

I don't know the official rule, so I can't say her appearance is guaranteed. I played almost a year without ever seeing Katie, so I do think you must at least get her dropped off the first time before you can see her. As you mentioned, now that I have had someone bring her over she will show up at random - and stay a few days if I don't get rid of her. I have had her dropped off maybe 10 times, and she has appeared every time after a drop off. I do believe it is a sure thing. Unless Katie is already there....

So I always warn them that Katie will still send them a present so that they don't panic. I don't think Katie reappears in my town after this type of visit. Thanks for your input SoSu. I can confirm Katie will make random appearances without being dropped off, they are just infrequent. I am curious to see if dropping her off does guarantee these visits or simply makes them more frequent. You mentioned that she stays a few days? I've only had her stay for a day (if I didn't take her elsewhere). I just hope the poll results are accurate since there are so many varied opinions, and it's easy to lose track of time.

I have to say I freakishly got katie 3 days in a row without someone sending her to me. I got so freaked out when she would send me a mail to thank me for send her to another town and she would magically be in my town still.

Hope she wont appear tomorrow.

But when she is sent to me.. she always appears on the third day

I also observed that on the days she was not sent to me (like the last two days), she is considered your special visitor...meaning no redd gulliver pete or katrina.

This is just my observation and anyone can debunk this one.

I did kind of always consider her to be one of the visitors such as gulliver, redd, etc. since I never had them and Katie at the same time. But then most times I had her, it was just a random arrival such as you've mentioned. So the first time, did she show up during a time when one of those characters were around?

That made me conclude that if she was sent... you can have other visitors... but if she visited without being sent... no other visitors allowed.

After I sent katie to another town... phineas appeared with my beloved badge.

I guess katie is a random walker like phineas... so she blocks him until she leaves.

These are all just hypotheses... im just too observant to the brink of paranoia.

Yep, we need to unlock the Katie mystery. The limited response tells me that many people are still uncertain, so hopefully that changes soon.

I have heard that she blocks Joan as well but if you open your gates your Katie disappears and Joan can be found. Don't know if that would work for Phineas or not.

Yes, she has always appeared after a drop-off for me within the three days. I don't time-travel enough to mistake that. In addition I get her at random. What I guess I didn't convey clearly was that in the 9 months or so I played before someone first brought me Katie, she never appeared once.

She can appear prior to the very first person dropping her off (such as a new game). In order for that to take place, you must have interacted with someone else's town. It is infrequent and works just as her random appearances do. I've had it happen in two of my games before I ever had anyone bring Katie. What you say makes me think that someone bringing her may increase her random appearances as well?

The three days in a row thing has caught my interest since at least two people on here have experienced this. I'm pretty sure her stay is only a day, and if it were three different appearances, it makes me wonder how the system decides. Kind of like picking a name out of a hat and somehow the same one gets picked consecutively. While her appearances can be random, you'd think there would be something in place letting the game know she was just there recently...

Well, my first visit where someone brought Katie was within maybe two weeks of opening my gates for the first time. I had been interacting through streetpass for months, but I hadn't visited other towns or let people into mine. Two weeks is probably not a big enough sample to use for making a guess about the probabilities.

I don't pay that much attention to it, but it seems to me that Katie appears more in my town if no one's brought her to my town recently. Like I said though, I don't pay much attention to that.

But in my experiences, she usually shows up in my town within 3 days.
I didn't know she blocked other visitors. That's something new.
But then again I haven't seen Phineas in my main town in a month and a half.

That happened to me last week, too. I just let her stick around town, though, because I'm trying to Streetpass less (there's no option to turn it off, for some reason) and avoid another random move in.

i can confirm that katie and joan can both appear at the same time.
