do you 2 Blank spaces for the cafe doorway

All doorways in New Leaf have two blank spaces in front of the door that you can't put qrs on.
Does the cafe's doorway go in (I.E, Original Town hall) or is it flat? (IE Retail)
Like this, the o's are spaces the building needs and x's are the buffer/doorway area that you cant put qrs down.

If I understood your question correctly, you only need one blank space in from of the door you can't place paths in. Unlike the police station, that needs two, the caf? is just like the town hall, one space and it's ok to place patterns.

The door is flush, but it has a pot on either side that bump out.
