I recently made a thread asking for a villager who moved out years ago, if I get her from somone will she remember my town or character or will she just be like a villager that moved in and does not know anyone?
I can understand she will possibly have stuff from the person who will give her to me but will she remember me in anyway?

Also if I were to get her from the pwp tent in my town instead of from somone would she recognize me?

What would be different from getting a villager back from the tent or by someone else?

Unfortunately, the villager will not remember you. She'll be like a brand new villager. The only way she would remember you is if she moved from your town to someone else's and they held her for you while you cycled through 16 villagers. Then, if you got her back from the same person who adopted her from you, I think she would remember you.

Getting a villager from another person and getting a villager to move in from your campsite are basically the same, except the villager you adopt from another person will remember their old town and mayor and may have changes to their house/clothing/catchphrase. A villager that you ask to move in from the campsite will be completely fresh and new with no past.

If I'm understanding your first paragraph of questions correctly---the villager moved out years ago and you were able to go through the 16 Villager Cycle (or use an Amiibo card to negate the cycle) to be able to adopt them from someone who had that villager in boxes. There's this bit of dialogue where they sort of "remember" their old town:

But other than that, unless it's the villager that was originally in your town, it's like you didn't have the villager in the first place because they went to The Void (nobody adopted them or picked them up via StreetPass, kept them in their town for you to adopt back after the 16 Villager Cycle).

Adopting a villager from the tent vs. another person --- the villager from the tent/campsite PWP will be 100% original (house, catchphrase, clothing) while sometimes a person cannot guarantee 100% original villagers *unless the person is a "Cycler" such as the ones onsite who have shops/adoption agencies where they move in the villager and immediately cycle them out. So the villagers (from Cyclers) who retain originality of villagers will just have those villagers mention their old town and mayor, sing the town tune of the old town, etc.

Overall though, the Welcome Amiibo update made it so the 16 Villager Cycle can be overriden if you have the villager's Amiibo card. I've moved villagers in and out of my town through the cards I have because I don't have the patience to cycle the pre-update way.

LadyDestani summed it up very nicely. (,:

I know how the ambiios work but how do the cards work?
Can they just be scanned from a screen with a 3ds like how QR codes can be scanned when on a screen with a 3ds or the the cards work the same as the amiibo models and have to be owned in real life?

The cards work the same as an Amiibo figure. They have a chip in them that you scan while talking to Wisp to get the villager to show up. So you have to own them.

Donno about if they move back into your town after the 16 villager cycle though, cause I've never tried it. New Leaf dialogue is so limited that I'm pretty sure they just "revert" to factory settings and you gotta climb the friendship ladder again lol. But my villagers mention all the time about their old town so they must remember once they move out.

Wow! That's such a thorough reply! I learned so much. :D
