Do normal villagers really sell their furniture when they move away?

It says on the acnl wiki that a normal villager with a high friendship will give/sell you all of their furniture when they move away. Does this really happen?

Never heard of it happening nor would I see how they'd give it all to you, lol.

They might send a gift but I think that's about it.

They might sell/give/put in re-tail a portion of their items. But I think it can only be like, 1-4? Depending? They have to have something I think as a minimum.

I've also read that but don't think its necessarily true.

Normals do seem to sell and give away a lot of their things, but often they say its because they're saving up for that book of poetry they wanted, right? plus, they're so darn nice...

No, this isn't correct. I've had many villagers move out and this has never happened. Seems like the wiki needs to be better tended to if that kind of 1990's internet rumor stuff is on there.

Well Marina was best friends with me for a long time and she moved away recently and never gave me her furniture so I wouldn't think it's true. Interesting though

I've never heard of this, nor have I found it to be true when my normal villagers move away.

they dont give furniture... if the friendship is high enough they will give a picture of him/herself

I think that might have been true for ACWW. Goldie was also throwing stuff away before going in boxes, even though she never left the town because I wouldn't let her. However, I don't think that's true any longer, since they don't go in boxes all of a sudden, but rather they tell you that they want to leave before doing so.
