Do moved villagers still remember their old town?

I remember in new leaf, if you adopted a villager from another town, they would sometimes mention their old towns and sing their old town’s town tune. Do they still do this in new horizons?

I’ve bought villagers before and have never seen this before! Sometimes they may mention their old home when you get them, but they don’t reference to any specific island or anything like that

I’ve had adopted villagers mention their old towns. For example, saying that the outfit they were wearing was from *former resident rep* and mentioning the name of the previous island in passing. But I noticed that this was only in the first few days after adopting them.

On that note, I so wish you could reset the clothes gifted to them previously

I think so? Both Audie and Beau came from other towns for me, but Beau's the only one that mentions anything about his old town, and I think it's mainly because some of the outfits he wears were gifted to him by the original person. I do know that if you give up a villager to someone else and visit them later on, they'll not only recognize you but reminisce about the time they spent on your island.

Its not as bad in NH as it was in NL.

But they do mention that they used to be on XXX island before coming to this one when your alts or your visitors first speaks with them

They only remember the old town if you moved them into a friends village, then they'll recognize you. they won't recognize you if you encounter them again on a mystery island, amiibo card, or random campsite encounter

I've only had them mention the place they move from when they initially move in, then eventually if they wear something that has been gifted to them by their previous island rep.

I would actually like to hear them sing their old tunes (not every time they sing but sometimes) I think that'd be pretty cute

I had three villagers move to my friend's town without my friend ever talking to them. When I visited them on her island, they remembered me and talked about how different their new town is

Chaddar told me me moved here from (Japanese word for cutting, the town name is in Japanese and I don't know the romanji). So they can reference the specific town.

weird! I’ve never had it happen to me but it’s probably random like most things in the game haha

In NL Tom sang me the town theme from "ice cream," his old town in NL. I'm 90% sure I streetpassed a little kid to pick him up.

I believe if they move to a friend's island and you come to visit them, they might remember you.

I came across this over a month ago, which kinda proved that they do have a memory, but I think there's a limited timeframe that allows them to remember.

they do, but in my experience not to the same degree as in new leaf. they don't mention their old town/player nearly as often as before (which is good imo)

The 2 villagers I’ve had from other islands have only mentioned it once in the first conversation I had with them once they moved in completely

i sent flurry into the void, and went to friends today, spoke to her and she didnt recognise me.. ngl, it hurt!
