Do male villagers not like wearing dresses?

Hi. So here's my very big important issue:

my male villagers HATE all the dresses I give them. I've gifted sherb almost nothing but dresses (and PJ's lol) and I don't think I've ever seen him wear any of them (the dresses) outside of right after the first time gifting them. I gifted Julian the same fairy dress three times now because he just looks so beautiful in it and every time without fail he switches back to his galaxy parka which doesn't look that great on him if you ask me.

so,,,, do male characters not like feminine clothing/dresses? if that's true, that really sucks because first of all, what a useless thing for the devs to waste their time on, second of all SHERB LOOKS SO GOTDAMN CUTE IN DRESSES I CAN'T STOP GIFTING THEM TO HIM I LOEV HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM

have you guys experienced this ish? or are things diff in your sitch?

Beau uses all the dresses I gave him! But Clay doesnt... The crankies don't wear ANYTHING I give them. I gave Octavian a space parka because his house is space themed, it was perfect! He never used. When he left, he threw it on the recycle box.
I'm yet to give a dress to Lucky, Kyle and Chops. For science.

I think it depends on their style, most of those dresses may fall under "cute" or "elegant" which Julian and Sherb do not like.

Julian likes Gorgeous and Cool with the colors Purple and Blue.
Sherb likes Simple and Cute with the colors Grey and Blue.

I'm not sure of the exact attributes of clothing, but those two items feel more elegant/gorgeous than cute. Cute in this game is equal to "kiddie" or "child-like". This is why villagers with cute themes usually have houses full of colorful wooden-block furniture and toys.

i gave a dress to rolf kinda like to see how he would look like , but he has only used it when i gifted it to him , after that , i have never seen him wearing that dress again.

Raymond got into a fight with Ribbot and asked me to bring him a gift. I did and when Ribbot opened it, it was a pink dress! Imagine my dismay then Ribbot, a robot jock frog, put it on and pranced around in it the rest of the day.....

A jock robot frog wearing a pink dress talking muscles! LOL...

Thankfully he has not worn it since....
