I have dreamies but I often change them. You'll find with some villagers, that even if they're cute, they can be or get boring. Try new things, adventure!

I have villagers I really would like to have like Flurry because I love hamsters or Zucker because he looks cute, but I give every villager a chance. I have a phobia of clowns and when Pietro moved in I wanted him out! After awhile and a lot of avoiding him, Pietro pinged and I decided to answer him and I've fallen in love with Pietro ever since. I think he's helped a bit on my phobia even. Pietro will probably be my favorite villager for a long time.
My little sister's favorite villager is Curlos and she wants to go to Comi Con together as Curlos and Pietro.

i think either experience is great! when i first started playing, i didn't really care much about what villagers i had (though my original five were totally rad)
but now that i have a list, i think being able to search through forums to adopt a villager or waiting for them to appear in your campsite or even just randomly moving in is another kind of fun. it can get stressful trying to track down specific villagers, but you feel a sense of completion and pride when you're done. it's a goal to work towards that can be heartbreaking if you lose any of said villagers, but it can be fulfilling when you have a town full of your favorites.

For me personally, there's a couple that I had in old games that I loved and would like again. Others remind me of bits of childhood. For example, Kiki reminds me of my childhood favorite movie, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Phoebe reminds me of Harry Potter :3 But I do agree, it's how I met Kabuki <3 He was one of my first villagers, and I love him to death!
