Is the DLC (eg: rainbow screen) stored on the game, or on the SD card of the 3DS?

Hard to answer I'd say it's stored on your SD card especially if you downloaded ACNL.

probably the SD. Speaking of which, my boyfriend just gave me a rainbow screen he got from a villager lol
