DIYs: is there rarity?

don’t know if it’s just me or my luck but i feel like there are rare DIYs because i feel like there are common ones in which i keep getting.

i’m talking about in-game. not in trading, wherein there are DIYs that are more sought-after.

like, for example for regular DIYs it took me a while to get rose bed from smugs, but i get repeats of others which i feel are in common category. then, i’m not sure about this but i’m also never getting moon items from celeste. so i’m taking maybe they are categorized as rare? is there datamine regarding this in which there are common and rare DIYs or they should have equal chances?

I wonder what people have datamined about DIY probability. I think the ones I’ve seen most people want the most online are the crown/wreath DIYs

I think Celeste is all random. Only the star-head was the last one for 2 times already so I'm not sure of that one is set.

But now I think about it maybe it's just all luck. You have the diy's every villager can give and some only type-specific. Those already have a smaller chance. But I had a long search for all diy's and a lot of the wreaths and crowns were the last ones I needed. They feel kinda rare but in the meantime.... sometimes no villager gives you one in 3 weeks and sometimes you get 3 wreaths/crowns in 1 week. So it's really hard to say.

I think you have a point. I have a few DIYs that I would think are not rare that I just am not getting from either my villagers or balloons. I’ve thought about buying them but have found when I go that route that the DIY I purchased will become available soon after. I’m definitely learning patience.

the literally happened to me with the garden wagon DIY lol. now i’m selling it myself as i kept getting repeats. i stopped buying DIYs lately because i know i’ll get it eventually anyway.

I can't tell you how many times i bought or traded for a diy and then i got the same one soon after sometimes more than once.

I always thought the flower crowns/wreaths were the rare ones because I read somewhere that those aren't personality specific and there is a 10% chance you will get a DIY not connected to that villager's personality

I swear the flower crowns are rare. I can't seem to find any naturally in my game. I literally have one. On here they're priced more expensive. Not sure if it's because of the kawaii online persona thing people seem to love or because they're actually hard to get.

I'm missing a handful of non-flower DIYs and then a bunch of flower ones. I hope people start posting more about villagers crafting those... :3

The bulk of the ones I'm missing are wreaths/crowns. But I've also has to trade for ones like the barbell and the barrel. I have all the celeste diys and she gave them all in order no duplicates. The only issue I had with her was she didn't give me the gemini one. I do believe that was glitch. i read that if u get a zodiac diy out of order it may glitch and not give u the correct one next time. I went to another island and didn't think to look at what date they were on until she gave me the scorpio diy. I bought the gemini one on the forum. It seems crazy to me that icant get ones like the apple hat and steel flooring though.

tbh yeah i do think that celeste is all random. just feel like it’s strange that with both of my characters, i don’t get the moon items. i got them from trading for my main and i thought i’d get them soon for my other one but nope. maybe because there’s too many items from her list and i’m waiting for something too specific lol

I've been playing since day one and still haven't got the butterchurn or birdcage DIYs!

I've got spare gold ones etc, though.

Maybe there is a rarity but regarding why the flower crowns and wreaths are expensive

There are 14 crowns and 14 wreaths. It's the biggest set of the regular diys. When you find someone that has one you are missing, most people are willing to pay big because other people are competing to get it too to complete the collection.

I used to drop 500k igb collecting them in the first two months when bells were worth something on nookazon and the animal crossing reddit discord cause they were so annoying to find someone who had extras.

yes i did. i hated either having to wait til she showed up just to get 1 diy or trying to visit her on other peoples islands(the constant someone is here screens kill me.) i would just move fwd a day, enter game, close and save. go back to previous day get diy rinse and repeat. I didn't even change the time unless it was to be sure it was evening cause thats when she shows up. it was too much of a grind to do it all in one go so i did it over several visits(say 6 or so diys per visit) so it was less of a drag that way.

Celeste zodiac diys are special. You can get them out of order but you can only get one zodiac recipe per zodiac season. As if its Leo on your island and you get the Scorpio recipe on another island, you have to wait for 30ish days before you can get another zodiac recipe so you won't be able to get Leo on your island during leo season and have to wait until next year or time travel 30 days forward and then back to reset the cooldown. I dont know the exact length of a zodiac season but travel that amount of time.

I feel they are random with nothing that makes some harder to get than others, but could be wrong about that. Would love if a data miner can tell us for sure.

Nah, I don't think so. I got repeats for said rare ones and still don't have some common ones

The crown/wreaths DIYs are probably the rarest because they could be crafted by any personality while the other ones are usually crafted by a specific personality.
