Disapointing dreamies

I'm sure this gets asked a lot, but does anyone have a story of finally getting their hands on a dreamie and finding they weren't what you expected? What about regular villagers that surprised you? Does anyone have tips and tricks they use to decide if their dreamie is really for them? I usually visit deam towns but some villagers (I'm looking at you smug guys!) come off as a little rude in dreams so I find it hard to tell if I'll like them. Some villagers I have been delighted with when I finally got them, others I've just been pretty happy with, and then there are the villagers who I've begrudgingly paid for and adopted (because I needed a certain type of villager and they fit the bill) or have moved in unannounced and have been better than I ever could have expected!
My vague disapointments are Kid Cat (jocks...) and Lolly (she's too... perfect, yes that's a real thing!)
My most pleasent surprises were Iggly (I really wamed to him, even though he's a jock and not all that cute in my eyes), Flurry (She's painfully cute and a master at hide and seek!) and Fang (I love cranky villagers and fang is amazing, I don't see me letting him move out ever!)

TL;DR Ever disapointed? Ever better than expected? How do you pick your dreamies?

I didn't end up liking Chief that much. Probably because I already had Fang.

Interesting, it was Chief I had in mind when I got fang, I needed a cranky villager and Fang was available but he was 3rd on my list after Octavian and Chief, the moment I laid eyes on him I was over the moon though, he's pretty great isn't he!!

Marshal was disappointing for me. I still like him don't get me wrong but when I finally got my hands on him I didn't think I would prefer Zell way over Marshal. Marshal is like a secondary dreamie for me he's definitely not number 1.

I know exactly how this feels, I don't think i've had any villagers I feel like that with lately but I have gotten villagers who i've been disappointed with once I finally had them. Whenever choosing dreamies I always look through the screenshot thread or at screenshots of them on google to see if I really want them, it doesn't really help all the time though, because I have had dreamies who i've gone to collect and when I see them in person I no longer want them. Although I was sure I wanted them when I was looking at screenshots and such.

Now thinking about it i've had Diana who I was quite disappointed with. Don't get me wrong she's lovely she's just not the villager for me. I think the deers in game models are okay i've never really been a big fan of them or the hamsters I just thought it'd be cool to have her in town and to see what makes her likeable. Like helloxcutiee said she's one of my more secondary dreamies (technically third) if Bree or Portia ever left. I think I prefer the much more simple designs of villagers tbh. Although Diana is quite simple something was just off about her for me. I felt like I didn't have really much of a connection with her and that wasn't because she was new. I always try to give my villagers second chances and get to know them if i'm dissapointed with them, but it just didn't click for me with her.

One random villager that surprised me and got a place in my heart was Pashmina.

She is just too cute! Her lines, and her uchi personality is like a very kind old sister. I loved it.
Liking cat villagers so much, I wasn't really expecting to like a goat villager.
Another one that surprised me was Katt (uchi too). Despite her ugly looks (poor her ), she has a good personality as well

Yeah, I had one dreamy move in and I thought it was the greatest thing at the time! lol but then every time I looked at her, her eyes were super big, it kind of got blurry in the game so after awhile I ended up moving them out for my other dreamies to take place.. At first I kind of missed them but, ah well there's so many great villagers around <3

when i saw han's picture on google i immediately fell in love with him but when i actually saw him in a dream town, he got removed from my dreamies list.

merengue, she was sooooooooo cute when she moved into my town, i did everything and anything for her but she soon got boring and bland the second i got her picture i was immediately disinterested in her and now she's gone

Julian is a little disappointing. (Not a horse fan, and his eyes are a little weird.. also don't really like smug's) Im sure ill keep him anyway though. I was also disappointed with Bam, and i'm actually trading him out for Fauna.

I found Bluebear pretty disappointing. I was going to sell Fauna when she was one of my starters but I fell in love with her and now she's a dreamie :3

Diana unfortunately. I got Whitney and her more or less at the same time after looking for both of them for a while and Whitney is just so much more interesting. Diana wasn't bad or anything but so boring that I kept forgetting that I even have her in my town. She moved out yesterday and I wasn't sad.
Some of my favorite pleasant surprises were Jacques and Renee

♥ beau. I wanted him pretty badly because he looks so cute in other people's artwork and screenshot,
but after I visited a dream town with him,
Poof! I no longer want him!
Another disappointment is zucker.
The idea of a Takoyaki looking octopus sounds so unique,
but after getting him in my town (I paid tons of bells for him too),
it's just meh, I feel like getting rid of him too,
But he's my sister's favorite, what can I do :c
A surprise for me is hazel!!
I never expect to love a uni-brow squirrel but she's just too flippin cute!
I can't imagine my town without her now! ♥

Probably Erik in my previous town and Rudy in my current town. I'm actually considering breaking my all cat theme to replace Rudy with Teddy.

It would have to be Axel.
I hadn't had any jock villagers for a while, so I forgot how much I hate their personality (also have youseen his mouth, it's weird.) Axel is a Jock, so yup, he is probably one of my least liked villagers, but I can't bring myself to get rid of him, I spent 15 TBT on him :c

I'm actually thinking of replacing Chief with Fang, but I just can't bring myself to do it. He's one of my favourite villagers because of wild world but he just seems so boring in new leaf. Maybe I need to refresh my dreamie list a little bit although Fang would be good for my village theme. I did quite enjoy him when I moved him in from the camp-site. But I just can't imagine a town without Portia and Chief.

I was all about Shep. I even let Kyle move even though I came to really love him because I just knew I'd replace him with Shep. Then I saw him in a dream town and the way his eyes pop out from his fur really creeps me out!

Well back then I picked dreamies off of how cute they were. One of the most DISAPPOINTING ones for me was Felicity. I liked how she looked but her house! And a bit of her personality. She didnt click very well. I was expecting a bit more of something (but cant seem ti remember) Dx that's what made me drop her, plus it was 3 years ago when I got her. So my dreamies were based off look. One that really stuck in my heart is Kyle. He's such a sweetheart to me I like his nickname Amiga that he gave me xD it's funny cause I'm Hispanic so it made me chuckle when he asked me if I would like the nickname. Another one was Marshal, I looked up his house (this was after felicity disappointment) and saw he was a bit sloppy which I didn't mind, but the thing that threw me off was his personality. It's Smug like Kyle xD so it feels like 2 kyles in one town xD I like him though. ^-^ I wouldn't trade Marshal or Kyle for anything xD

It surprises me greatly that Pashmina isn't a top tier. When I first got the game and was looking for dreamies, she was one of the first to catch my eye. I think she's very cute, and her color palette is awesome.
As for disappointing, Julian randomly moved into my first town a couple days in, and I'll admit, I was a bit disappointed with his personality for being a Unicorn and all (he lacked a certain 'wow' factor for me). But, he's still my favorite smug. honestly, if I could change anything about the game, it wold be to have the villagers' personalities be like the GameCube game. They were a lot more interesting in terms of conversation, honestly.
