I’ve been playing this game for about a month now, and since I have started I not once have been able to make orange Hyacinths I have red and yellow Hyacinths together in hopes of making orange Ultimately so that I can make purple but I have never made orange!!! the offspring will either be yellow or red. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else come across this? I’ve even had friends come over and water them (not everyday but when they can) and still no progress, yet all my other hybrids are flourishing. It’s making me very frustrated!!! 😕
If anyone has tips or advice or even orange Hyacinths to spare let me know, I would appreciate it!

You really seem to have some bad luck. Are these hyacinths from seeds? What layout do you use? How is your luck with other hybrids?

Tell me about it! Yes, I planted them as seeds! Any other flower I’ve bred is fine, I have black roses, purple roses, even blue Hyacinths. This has been the only very difficult one for me to breed.

Maybe your hyacinths are from seeds? Or your own island? I know that if you go to an island that has hyacinths, or any flower, really, the NMT islands are more "prone" to making hybrids? I've gotten TONS of oranges...and just recently, finally gotten some purple ones too!

I think the issue is with your layout. I only see 1 spot there where flowers can breed, and it seems to be a smaller chance to get an orange. I think it is better to dig the flowers up, and plant them in a row alternating yellow and red. A flower will always look if there is any partner to breed with, and if there is space, it will breed

Yeah, I believe Cethosia has the correct answer. Right now, you have tons of Reds touching Reds, and Yellows touching Yellows, which will just end up getting you more Reds/Yellows. You've had success with Black Roses (which is Red x Red), White Roses (which is White x White), and Blue Hyacinths (which is also White x White). So it makes sense that you could get hybrids even if you're just clustering all the flowers together because they're already the same color. When you breed with two colors, you have to make sure that the colors are alternating.

You can see some layout patterns here. The simplest to try would be something like a diamond. Or even just separating pairs of one Red and one Yellow out.

Oh wow, I never knew they were more prone to making hybrids!

Alright, I’ve alternated them. I hope it works! Originally I only One red and one yellow and grew all those but since I never moved them I guess that did decrease my chances. Thank you!

That is not really true. When you go to an island with hybrid flowers, they have the best genetics to be able to get the rarest colour if you breed them together. This is especially true for roses, which have a really complicated way to breed them if you start from seeds.

There is a guide on forums about it

You can still make hybrids with seeds!! I think roughly 95% of my flowers have come from seeds and I have made hybrids just fine :D (Other than some 3rd gen hybrids but they're rarer spawns anyway :p) As others have been saying, alternate the flower patterns! :D Also, water your flowers!! Getting other people to water will increase the chances, however you watering them is also fine :3

Thank you for sending me this! It has so much information! I did a different section trying the diamond method you suggest! I hope to get results soon 😄

Wow that's actually so surprising to me since hyacinth breeding if you ask me is one of the easiest flowers. You might find it easier just buying a orange hyacinth on the forum, and isolating it so it can duplicate

I've read that NMT flowers do have the propensity towards getting hybrids easier. And it appears to be true as far as I'm concerned, but ok.

Basic flowers found on mystery islands have the exact same genotype as the seed flowers. Makes no difference. You are probably thinking of the hybrid flowers founded on mystery islands. Those are better for getting the next tier hybrids that need two parent hybrid.

Hybrid flowers on hybrid islands have a different genotype that you can only get the islands and they have a higher probability of hybrids offsprings when you do the punnett square than their breed counter parts.

If you want a higher chance of getting more flowers have visitors water your flowers.

Thanks, I'm good. I've got no trouble getting hybrids.. 👌

You should checkerboard flowers by colour to maximize chances for spawns. Once you move around your flowers you should be good!

Checkerboard is actually not the most efficient way to breed flowers anymore. It's now most efficient to use a 5x5 grid (see in the links above) :)

U best just put red and yellow together and ask 5ppl to water them and it ups ure chances to 80%
