Difficult fish help

So I'm still failing to catch a char (waterfall) and a catfish (river pool) I've read somewhere that some town layouts don't spawn these and seams as I have one river pool I'm starting to think mine may be that. Is there any one that knows there town spawns these fish some times that would let me come over to fish for them for a bit

I'm not sure about certain towns not being able to spawn chars, but have you tried the save and continue trick? I just landed a char on my third try by saving and continuing while standing over the waterfall (toss line into edge of river, let it go down the waterfall, save & continue if nothing bites, repeat).

I think I'm having problems as my waterfall is on the left hand side of my village so I've not got the best view of it....

Yes, sometimes they're hidden behind the fall, so it's best to turn up your volume and let your line drop to the bottom. If your bobber floats out and nothing's chasing it, then save and continue. Is that the only waterfall in your town?

There's one at the beginning of the river but it has quite a large base pool soo I can't get to it, not that I can cast of the top of that one anyway

Sorry you're not having much luck. ^^; I can't think of any other advice to offer, but maybe someone else can help you out.

I wanted to give you the char I caught, but then realized fish can't be gifted. :c

Thanks for the advise I'll keep trying the save and continue might try it to see if the catfish will appear to I have caught a pond skater since trying though appeared on one of the save and continue's
