I don't know if such a thread already exists, but however, I couldn't find one so here I go.

Did you reset for the town you wanted? If you did it, how many times did you do it? What was your criteria? Did you reset for a good river layout, for fruits, for the grass layout or maybe the position of all the buildings and ponds?
What was the most important thing to you at the beginning when you were choosing the town?

Personally, I resetted a lot of times. My criteria for my town was that I wanted a centred plaza and a long river. I also wanted the river pond not to be in a curve of the river.

I didn't. I got the game the first day it came out, so I didn't know about this stuff.

I reset for my town layout... All I wanted was a small river and that's what I got. I didn't want to get picky about details - even though I'm a perfectionist ehehe X_X It only took be maybe about 20 times (about an hour ish?)

i'm an avid resetter! it's always hard for me to stop even when i find something i like uwu
it actually took me 2 months to find my current layout because of this. i'm glad i didn't settle for anything else though! my town is now absolute perfection, in my eyes at least!

I haven't.
I don't see the point in doing so. It kinda ruins the whole fun of the game, I think :/

I did not ;w; cause initially I was unaware that so many other maps existed & that there were different grass patterns. I also didn't realize what the tree on the map was for, so I left it hidden away in a corner. ;; This was even after I got the game in July so I could've done my research I guess haha. After being on these forums & seeing how people pick their town map down to all these details like fruit/grass/waterfall/layout/ponds.. e_e; their ways have almost influenced me to restart lol.. but that was months ago & now it's definitely too late to restart ;; So I feel like I'm okay with my map now, and I'm trying to make it work~ & I guess I did like my map initially when I first started 8D;

I've been resetting for about 12 hours. In my entire time owning New Leaf, I have reset about 2,000 times. Not even joking; my play count is 2,679.

So, yes. I do indeed reset for a perfect map.

I did; I wanted circle grass, and a "reasonable" layout with a vertical waterfall. I think it worked out pretty well!

I did, I wanted 1 long beach and a lot of land for decorating and PW's. I didn't really care about the fruit or the grass

The only thing I was looking for was 1 bond and I didn't even have to reset for that. I wasn't bothered about my map nor did I even know there was a 'perfect' map. I think my map IS perfect and I'm really glad I chose it. c:

I think your map is perfect too q.q

I have. A lot. I really wanted the Re-Tail store near the entrance to the beach, so it's not a long walk early in the game when you're selling things from the island. Every map that I consider perfect always has the villagers bunched up together, though.

I didn't and I'm mostly fine with my town. The only thing is that my Town Hall is in a sort of annoying spot. But it got a lot less annoying once I built a second bridge.

I got my town on release, also.
I reset a bit for the town I have now.
I'll admit I did get sick of resetting because I was having no fun, so I picked a map I thought looked nice.
It's got practically everything I wanted, which is great.
I'm most likely going to keep this town, now. No more resets! Unless I get bored. Which may or may not happen.
I'm starting to play the game as it comes, now. Let most of my villagers, (Apart from Tia, Bruce, Mira and maybe Flurry), move whenever.
Although I'm starting to get sick of seeing my town in the snow. D: I hate it.

I was picky, but I never did reset. I wanted my Retail to be near the shopping area, and the town hall and plaza in the centre of the town. I also liked the idea of a small area away from the main part of town for my house. One of the three map options Rover gave me suited these wants. I would have liked my town fruit to be Cherries, but it's oranges. I'm ok with that though because I had pears in Wild World and Peaches in City Folk, so at least it's something different.

I reset quite a bit just to get a town that had the re-tail shop near the docks, for easier passing through & selling.

I was a big noob when i started in july, and i just took the map that had retail closest to the top of my map Dx

No I didn't. I got the game 2 days after launch and wasn't aware of all this stuff. But I ended up with an upside down L shaped river, circle grass, and peaches as my fruit. Retail and town hall were at the top of the map and I liked it just the way it was :) I'm not in love with the river shape but meh I made it work. I only need 2 bridges that way.
