It goes to a stupid video when i click on the link.
definitely fake.
Also, I don't see why all those weirdos who don't like halloween have to give pressure to people who do like and celebrate it. if they don't like the event then then can smash their switch... idfc i just want halloween

I don't think this is fake, guys. They listed some pretty reputable sources... Hoping this isn't true though

lol when I clicked the link it takes me to some random spam-looking site and doesn't show any actual article.

I haven't seen ANY reputable gaming sites reporting on this. If anyone has and has links, please post them.

Which reputable sources?

I have never ONCE heard of this website. If this was true (and it makes exactly zero sense for it to be) it would be all over video games news websites.

Halloween has been an event in every single Animal Crossing game. There's no reason it would be cancelled in this one. Besides, most religious groups have no interest in cancelling Halloween, it'd be only fringe groups who would care, and Nintendo has NO reason to listen to them. There was talk of PETA encouraging people not to catch fish/bugs in the game... did Nintendo remove those features? No. Because they have no reason to.
Also, I'm one of the few people who liked the Easter event- the fact that they mentioned it's re-release makes it very clear this is a parody news article. Again, I've never heard of the website, but the name of it doesn't scream "reputable news source" as much as it screams "Onion knock-off".

“due to peer pressure from religious groups” i stopped reading after that lmao.

unless nintendo personally comes out and confirms this, i wouldn’t believe it.

Exactly. If it was true- which religious groups? Surely the group would want to be named in an article on their "triumph".

Generic unnamed "religious groups" bogeyman are a classic signs of parody news sites.

Lol I'm christian and I celebrate halloween.
Doesn't make a whole lotta sense bc they had bunny day which is basically easter, but easter is literally a christian holiday, so i mean why wouldn't they get "peer pressure from religious groups" from that? maybe im weird but i feel like there'd be some non-christian acnh players who would disagree with bunny day too
yeah, this is a load of bs. DEFINITELY woulda heard of this from some other source that isn't a website playing rickrolled videos.

chocosongee just PMed me to say they were posting this as a prank to "rick roll" people. I'm not where the rick rolling aspect of this is (since there's no Rick Astley at the link).

They're just trolling so just ignore it.

ah, got it

If Halloween doesn’t come this year, I feel like it would be because the developers weren’t able to finish it on time due to COVID or other reasons, not because of religious reasons.

I did and got a spam screen. No actual rick rolling or anything. Just an image that was like a medium post blurred out.
i got a video of that dumb song "never gonna give u up" and it said "you have no control over this video.... unless you exit the page"
really stupid.
