Did I bring bad luck to myself?

I went to my island and cut down the majority of my trees.

OMG ---- 300,000 bells in an hour.

Today I was tripping, villagers not paying full price at Re-Tail and horrible fishing.

I am very kind to all of my villagers and I take care of my town on a daily basis.

The weather in my town was cloudy and dreary!!!!!!

I keep my promises when it comes to their errands.

Did I jinx myself by cutting down my island trees?

There are videos on youtube about beetle catching.

I tried it and it works.

You have to cut down every single tree in the middle and all the flowers. You do not want any butterflies.

I also cut down half of my plam trees. I kept about 5 at the bottom.

I could not believe it.

Make sure to chase the wharf roach and hermit crab away. Apparently the beetles will not spawn if they are there.

You can always play island games to replenish your trees and flowers.

If I make 300,000 bells every night -- I will keep my island naked.

I made 200,000 bells in half an hour with just palm trees!

Don't worry! It will pass. They are random bad luck days and have nothing to do with that. I was tripping every other day for almost two weeks at the beginning!

Ooh, I will go find the videos right now! I had about 2 of mine cut down, but the only beetles I was getting were not worth much at all so I eventually dug up the stumps. My character is on their way there right now so I will try it. Is it true the times you go affects it too? I have been going between 8-10 pm because I read somewhere the bugs are worth more then.

So this is what I did: I cut down and dug up the trees/bushes in the middle...and cut a few palm trees down (not all of them) and left the stumps. The only bugs I have seen are the bigger beetles on the trees which is what I usually catch anyways...nothing on the stumps. And there are wharf roaches EVERYWHERE, no matter how many times I chase them off, theres 3 more to take their place. All the videos I watched seem to just have people catching the bugs on the trees....am I doing something wrong?

I just got back from the island few minutes ago.

I made 310,000 in 50 minutes.

Get rid of everything in the middle including the stumps.

I kept 5 or 6 palm trees at the bottom.

If the wharf roaches or the hermit crabs are around your bottom trees the beetles will not spawn. Chase them away. Start runnning counter clock wise around the island.

SLOW DOWN as you approach the first palm. Walk slowly around the bottom and keep looking to the right.

If you see the dreaded Hermit crab try and catch him to release him or chase him into the ocean.

I have been playing the game since June 10th and I was SHOCKED that anyone would destroy their island.

The things on island can be replaced.

Also, when I was standing at the bottom I would take my net, hit the water to scare off any fish.

Be careful when creeping up on the tree you do not want to scare them off.

Think of the island as a clock face. I have trees at 4:00 to 8:00. Think counter clockwise. A total of 5 trees.

If you see the 4:00 tree does not have any beetles starting runnning counter clockwise until you get to 10 position.

Start to slow down as you approach. If there are no beetles -- it's because of crabs and roaches.

I think it's much faster to have 3 trees on the top right and left. Then running around doing figure 8s. You don't have to slow down, and can see right away if all the trees have beetles or not. And doing the figure 8s make the roaches/crabs run away with no extra chasing.
