did any specific villagers infiltrate your themed island?

yeah and that kind of thinking and sharing is what perpetuates shame to a lot of people from liking popular villagers. like i've said in many different threads before, i've seen way more people bash and bully people for liking popular villagers or having them in their town than the other way around. i'm just telling you from a perspective of someone who does have a majority of popular villagers in their island, that they make me incredibly happy and i would never shame and say your island is boring for not having them.

Idk to me personally, saying that an island full of popular villager sounds boring af at least indirectly is shaming those of us who do have those villagers.

Pfff, it is a shame this threat immediately started to become a "shaming someone because they have mostly popular villagers" one. Maybe let others do their thing instead of calling their choices "boring" (it sounds judgemental to me, and thus would be an attempt to shame in my eyes, but okay).

On topic: I am going to have an island with natural coloured villagers (brown to white), but the only peppy I really like is Peanut, so she will shake everything up with her pink. Same story for Roscoe so I purposefully let them infiltrate my island ;D

I think it's super cute Scoot came over to your island to surprise you. Reminds me of how someone has a cat theme island, but Scoot is their only non-cat villager XD Scoot is infiltrating hearts yall <3
Also, I have some high tier villagers and I definitely did not get them just because they rank high. I got most of them without knowing or by surprise. Like with Sherb, I thought he was a cute blue color so I invited him without even knowing he was a new villager LOL. And Marshal forced himself onto my island by being my first camper. Having some popular villagers, I did think to myself, "am I boring since I have the same villagers as other people?" And after some thought, I thought it was ridiculous that I even thought that. We are all allowed to like who we like and that is what makes the game fun and our hearts happy ^^ I think the only way it could possibly be boring is if a person gets villagers that are popular just because they are popular and they don't even like them or can't connect with them just because they feel like they should since you know, they are popular...that is why I don't really like rankings.

there's no point in saying your thoughts when this isnt even related to popularity contests and who's the most popular etc etc. just bc you're bitter over popularity and such doesn't mean everyone loves popularity. this is not a discourse thread many villagers just happen to be classified as such. you are not quirky.

So... ummm... this is not a call out, but LambdaDelta is english not your first language? I only ask because I feel like there is a "language barrier" due to word infliction/connotation that is happening on why things just aren't coming across right to each other.

Boring has a negative connotation by default. It's bad. It's to be avoided. ... ... ... but boring can also have the connotation for"lacking originality."
Discourse does in fact literally mean discussing/debate... ... ... but the connotation of using "discourse" instead of "discussion" is because discourse is viewed as a negative discussion or more on the debate side. That is how the word is commonly used after all even though that is not it's literal definition. Where this thread is a discussion but not a negative discussion or debate about popular villagers sort of thread that was trying to be expressed. (I think that is what toenuki was trying to convey.)

Anyways... I hope maybe that is what was needed to "clear things up" so the thread just doesn't spiral into a hate thread over possibly a misunderstanding due to word usage. Since how the thread title is worded, it is a much more lighthearted way of pointing out the oddballs that moved in that we just can't let go of even if it does clash with the rest of our islands. =3

The logic is this:If you make a thread on a public message board,you don't get to decide what people will post(of course,the mods have a say if any posts are not within the forum's rules).People have different opinions and viewpoints.No offense but someone with over 2,000 posts on these forums should know that.

Personally,I don't have a problem with a town full of popular villagers.I have a few highly coveted villagers.This thread reminded me of some old threads on the New Leaf boards.I have a couple of single species towns and a lot of people would say stuff like:"Well isn't it boring to have all the same kind of animal in one town?".I understood where they were coming from,especially those with just one town so it didn't bother me.I had fun with it.

again, as i said before: this was not a discourse thread. this thread was a general question for people who had villagers they didnt initially think they'd have. THIS WAS NOT a 'what is your opinion on having popular villagers' thread, there are other threads for that.

some people LOVE to stick their nose in things and make it ab themselves with their opinions that dont even make sense- THAT TOPIC IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT.
