Yesterday I moved Julian out for Diana. Today, I found out that she had placed her house... directly in front of Benedict?s. Diana. Why.
Sylvia?s house is directly behind the Town Hall, which is also annoying, but at least she isn?t blocking another villager.
What are the worst villager house placements you?ve had?

I've had Tammy move into a planned field. Her house placement with the path looks like I can't plant bushes.

Pretty much what my rant post was about, but specifically void ins. I feel your pain in that picture so much !!

Avery moved right in front of my beach's slope, blocking it off. Ruined that villager for me forever.

I love her dearly, but Alli parked herself right in front of my house. And Mathilda took out at least three cherry trees when she moved in. I was mad.
At the very least, trees can be replanted. Too bad we can't move their house plots before they move in...

Maybe try to make the best of it and turn it into a little boulevard with animals living along side it in a row? I ended up doing that in Gracey.

The worst house placements I've had before was right in front of the beach slope where you go down to the beach and right in front of the town hall and gate house. The beach one made it really hard for me to get down to the beach, so I eventually reset so that it wasn't there anymore. Plus, the ones in front town hall and the gate house made it hard as well to place paths down. Hopefully in the next game we can place houses down where we want them and not anywhere villagers want. :)

This happens to me all the time and I have no idea what else I can do to avoid it. I've tried setting down random qr patterns all over my town and leaving only enough space for villager homes to be plotted in a straight line following various different online guides. I've tried leaving items all over my town from fossils to furniture in combination with the qr pattern trick and they still move in the wrong area. I even try to plot reset in advance knowing a 10th villager will move in from the void because I tavel to different towns and they decide to plot their homes only after I boot up the game with one of my mcs.

At this point I think the only option is to learn how to hack if I want the perfect town. :(
So many villagers I've had to give up on because of this and there's no way I'm paying $9-16 for a card online.

Ahh those sneaky move ins! I feel like snooties should know better too!! Like, wouldn't they want a more private and scenic location at least? :p I feel like I can work around villagers placing their houses right next to each other, if I really like them that is. For example, if you like both those villagers and had intended on keeping them, you can try and make it "work" by making a little villager cluster there. Maybe try plotting another villager next to Benedict so their houses from a little L shape, then plant some bushes and trees around them, have some nice paths connecting the three, put a PWP in another corner (eg. their own personal water fountain or bench) and bam! You have a cute little community. I've had some terrible placements but if I like the villager I try to work around them and I feel super accomplished when I can make it look good XD In my main town, my ultimate favourite villager Dizzy (and last villager that I moved in to my town to "complete" my town - so no more plot resetting), moved RIGHT in front of Pudge in a really tight sliver of land. I had that area all figured out before Dizzy, with white flowers surrounding me and Pudge (my house was next door to Pudge). But after that, I had to rework my path and flower combinations. I changed my white flowers to red/orange and blending into blue pansies as it approached Dizzy's house. Now I love it and the three of us live happily haha.

If you can, make sure you cover your town head to two in QRs with only open spaces for potential houses! Landscaping was a breeze in my second town because of this :>

unfortunately, @dizzybone, my town is more of a forest feel. a wild town in the woods.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I find that one of the most frustrating aspects of New Leaf. The villagers choose some of the worst locations when left to their own devices and I don't remember it being like this in prior games, so it feels like a step backwards.

My worst house placement was Lopez. He was my first random move-in in my first New Leaf town, so I didn't know what to expect. He plotted directly in front of my house, as close to my door as possible. I really loved him as a villager, but ultimately I decided I couldn't live with his house placement so I moved him out and it drove me to go from a lazy, go with the flow attitude to planning out my town and plot resetting to get my villagers exactly where I want them.

I love when I start a new town and the day after I move in, some random villager just plops their house right in front of mine ... living the dream!

I feel your pain. ;w; I love how Nan put her house right in front of the town hall, very nice of her.

I?m sorry if I laugh at your ?pain?, but that?s hilarious xD I never saw a villager put their house so freaking close to another building!
It?s like the house?s butt is right at the town hall door :O

I had a lot of villagers that placed their homes in bad spots. But I always like to find a way to make it look good. By planting trees around it, cute gardens, pwp... it?s really cool when you manage to make it look great despite the initial disappointment!

Had often to deal with villagers placing their houses in front of my house, the Roost or town hall. I
just hate this so much, I mean normally, I can work around when it comes to terrible house spots
but this is just unacceptable. Even if said villager is a favorite one, I'm glad when they move out.
I don't want to deal with the fact to run every time into said house just because they had to place
it in front of another building/my house.

I have a post up about this but I haven't played my main town Ginger, since I had Merengue move in.
Essentially she put her house where I was going to put up my Tower pwp and it pushed some of my qr's out the way to make room for her.
Even though I have spots open for villagers to move in. Nope. My game decided that spot was better.

Like a cat and a cereal box.
If it fits, it sits. :(
Even though barely.

And Merengue is my favorite villager so the fact this happened really frustrated me and I'll have to move her out eventually.

Three bad experiences immediately come to mind for me.
Alfonso was one of my original villagers in my town, and I soon realised that his house was blocking the perfect spot for a bridge. Thankfully, he's moved out now (it only took a YEAR  ). I built the bridge as soon as he left.
Cousteau quickly became one of my favourite villagers when he moved in, but his house is at the top of this sliver of land between a river and the cliff, blocking my paths. I would have the paths lead straight up to his door but they're 2 spaces wide, and 3 would make everything look wonky... I'll let him move out as soon as he wants to, although it makes me sad to lose him. :(
And then there was the villager who put their house really close to mine, where I wanted a pwp to go. I can't remember who it was - a wolf, I think? Kyle, maybe? I dunno. I later decided I didn't want to put the pwp there; still glad he's gone, though.

I had velma move right into my field of blue flowers and was right by the town hall! It was sooo annoying. Good thing I didn't like her

i’ve had al move himself into the corner of my town where i had some hybrids :c

Muffy moved into my town and took away half of my bamboo grove. Was annoyed at first but decided to have her be the town's witch doctor and expanded the bamboo grove to become a mini forest now and she will live inside it lol
