Diagonal bridge problem :/

So I‘ve tried to build a diagonal bridge on my island two days ago and it worked.
Today I wanted to build another one but NO MATTER what I do, it just doesn‘t work, I always get an error message which tells me, that you can only build a bridge if the river has the right size and is straight, but it IS.
It took me 1 hour to rebuilt everything 3 times and it still won‘t work.
Idk if that matters but it‘s on the second floor ^^
Can anybody help me ?

The river looks too narrow to me.

I think if you widen it by one block all the way across, the bridge will fit.

The smallest size bridge is 3 blocks of water across, just follow the white outline on the screen.
