even some of the very popular villagers (judy, stitches, merengue, sherb, coco) may be a hit or miss for people (2 of my friends don't even see the appeal of marshal)

who do you think are villagers or characters that are universally liked? like in ac world, they have 99% rotten tomatoes score.

i'd say.... celeste (does anyone actually dislike her, they're probably homophobic), fauna, diana, maybe lolly & rover. who else?

Since special NPCs are included, I'd basically say any of them who don't appear in NH are fair game at this point! Brewster is the hot topic at the moment I'd say. Not heard anyone say they wouldn't want him back.

For NPC, I’d like to think that Rover, Leif and Celeste are generally more likable/popular than others? Well, they are to me, so I’m definitely bias here lol. For villagers, perhaps....Poppy and Beau? I also LOVE Mitzi and Lolly, they are my constant fav villagers, but I understand many did not find them appealing, because they are cats/the shape of their eyes.

EDIT: can’t believe I have forgotten about Brewster!! Please bring him back, we desperately be needing a cafe coffee fix on our islands

a lot of the wolves are universally liked, but as whole they kinda look the same ngl, their designs are cool but kinda on the safe side. so it’s understandable why they’re liked.

I've never seen anyone who hates Molly, Maple, Erik, Beau, and Fauna, basically all the cute, normal-looking villagers! I think it's because there's nothing about their designs to dislike.

Agree with all the above! All the villagers that have color schemes close to the real life animal seem to have no haters. I feel pascal is loved as well. Such a chill otter ^^

Yes I love Sable. I don't like Mabel though because her voice is way too high pitched.

I used to not mind Mabel but in NH she is very annoying. She has way too much dialog, and she just reminds me of sales associates that profile you, especially when it comes to the fitting room.
Sabel is a angel who needs to be protected

I’d say Bob is liked by many people, I’m one of the few that don’t like him though. If you look up “I don’t like Bob Animal Crossing” you literally get only three results of people saying they don’t like him. The rest is just memes and posts about loving him.

I’m not a fan of Diana to be honest. I’ve never liked her weird design XD

I never see any hate for Rosie. Sure she may not be the most interesting character but she very cute.

I'd agree that I haven't seen anyone dislike Poppy yet (and if you do, how could you?).

I don’t like Diana, honestly. I have come across her in some dream islands lately and she just doesn’t interest me at all. She looks like she got bleached: faded.

With the wolves, for all that I have and like Freya, I don’t really like any of the wolves. As @Underneath The Stars said above, they all look the same, and I don’t find any of the designs particularly interesting. (And what is up with their tail, it looks like a mace? Why is it stiff and spiky when most of the animals with long tails have ones that move and wag.)

Fauna works from my experience. Based on pictures I thought she was too boring, but then she came to my campsite and she was actually very cute. She not going to be with me forever but I’ve come to really love her.

lief, blathers (even though he...blathers), sable - all are so pure! Super love pascal too.
