Ok, I never really got this. Ever. But when a villager gives me a present for another villager and I complete it, does the friendship increase go to the villager that gave me the present or the villager receiving the present or both?

I believe it's just the one you are delivering it for, but you have to make sure to tell them after you delivered it that you did so.

Edit: I could be wrong though, I just feel like it would be only for the person you deliver it for since it's them you're doing a favor for.

I think it's the villager that you deliver the gift to, since if you are successful it plays that little chime.

I remember reading somewhere that it could affect both depending on the situation. I'm not 100% sure though but it could affect either villagers' happiness.

Mainly if you don't deliver the present to the other villagers, the one who gave it would be sad and thus happiness would go down. If you deliver it and it's unwrapped, then the villager who received it would be sad, but the one who gave it would be neutral. Something like that anyways, I could be wrong but that's from what I remember reading a long time ago, I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually proven or anything but it kinda makes sense. Villagers would mention it the next day and stuff if it wasn't delivered, so it's possible?
