It happened to me, I was hunting for merengue but I found stitches and I just couldn’t resist, so now he’s on my island... I decided to keep him, get his picture and have him around for a while and later let him leave to hunt for merengue again

ugh yes. It just goes to show how many of the villagers in the game I honestly really like! Gotta stay focused though. I picked my dream team for a reason and gotta stick to my guns

Yes. Though my dreamies are somewhat fluid. I was looking for Pietro the other day and found Poppy on a random island and had to invite her. (Actually I ran into her previously and didn't invite her and regretted it, so I'm glad she showed up again.)

I say if you see a villager you really like even if it isn't a dreamie, consider giving it a chance and go with the flow of the game. If you're dead set on Kiki, you may be better off saving your NMT and keeping an eye out on the forums in case someone is selling her.

I just did this. I was looking for Judy but then found Apollo. I was just thinking last night about wanting him as a cranky but I don’t actually have his amiibo so I went for it!

It’s gone both ways.
1. Skipped out on so many I was considering but decided against to be in my top 10 (Tangy, Blanche, Zucker, Molly) but then I found JUDY 20 tickets in. So happy I stuck to my plan of only bringing a dreamie home.

2. Looking for one of 5 dreamies but came across Lolly. I took her home because I had to log off. Turns out, I really like Lolly and might end up keeping her and moving someone off my dreamie list.

Any AC rules I make for myself I just end up breaking anyway. I just play how I’m feeling and try to spread positivity to my island, villagers and traders!

Yeah, when I was hunting for dreamies, I found popular villagers like Julian, Kiki, Bob, Beau, etc
I'm glad I didn't take them though, because I did eventually find Bangle after like 10 hours of island hopping!

Yep. Lol. It's how I ended up with Audie and Judy. I was hunting for Sherb and found Audie and couldn't resist. Then I found Sherb and was hunting for Raymond, found Judy and couldn't resist. Lol. Also happened with Dom when I was hunting for Genji, I did not like Dom at all once I had him in my town and regretted not just continuing to hunt for Genji.

before i had actually filled out my original ten and didn't actually have a clear idea of who i wanted on my island, i went island hopping. i found sly on one of them. i couldn't stop myself. i had to take the cute camo alligator. did the same thing with tutu lol, she's a blushing lil polar bear!! i filled my final slot with dotty who i wasn't disappointed with (flash forward a few days and 3 peppies is two too much for me lol). definitely got extremely distracted lol

Sometimes who you think you’d love is not who you actually love when you meet! I think you should leave yourself open to new villagers you weren’t looking for but we’re glad you found. Peanut is my favorite villager and she wasn’t even on my radar when I found her on a mystery island. On the other end, I thought I’d love Lucky but a combination of unappealing Lazy villager dialog and the inexpressive design of his character meant I could never get invested, so he ended up being an easy one to move out, even though he is very popular and many others would prob kill to have him

This has happened to me in a way. I will go hunting for a few dreamies (around 3-5 of them), then I see a villager that I also kind of like. This has happened to me with Cyrano because i though he looked kind of cool but I did not take him. It also happened to me with Erik, but I had him in New Leaf and I am trying not to have all the same villagers that I had in NL, in NH, and I am not a huge fan of the Lazy Personality. The most tempting though was Pierce, because man he is cool. I love the blue colors on him and I was so tempted to take him but I resisted and ended up giving up and just taking Croque from my campsite, who I love having on my island!

All the time. I think the fear of not finding the dreamies and letting villagers from the backup list go ALWAYS gets the best of me.

Yes! Was hunting for Raymond and came across Julian. His design is fantastic! I was tempted, but I kept going, and I semi-regret not having him over for at least a little bit. Also, was island hopping and came across punchy. I was super tempted to pick him up but I didn't!

I was looking for a cat since I don't have one on my island yet. I was looking for any of Ankha, Bob, Kiki, Lolly, Mitzi, Punchy, Raymond, or Rosie.

But I found Marina and couldn't leave without inviting her.

This is.... My biggest problem.
I was hunting for some dreamies, found Henry, got him. Then, there I went again, found Octavian, got him. And there I was again, almost got Hugh, Blaire and Dobie. Now, I'm hunting for Ankha, found Kyle, got him. Kept going, found Genji. It absolutely broke my heart, but I passed on him. I need to settle! Still hurts
Also Julian and Judy made me tempted. But they catched my attention just because they are popular, so I passed.

edit: also, something that helps you move on and let them go is take a lot of pictures!

When I do island hopping, I don’t look for dreamies because I’ll probably just end up wasting all my tickets trying to find a specific villager so this scenario is normal for me in that I snatch up the very first decent one (one that I don’t hate) that I see.

For dreamies, I’ve found that the campsite trick seem to be the most efficient way. It’s faster, the pool is smaller and it’s free. Sadly, that requires a lot of TT and if you’re strictly against it, then it wouldn’t be a viable option.

me! if i come across a villager that isn’t a dreamie but is one i still like, the majority of the time i’ll invite them as usually my luck doesn’t get any better than that lmao
