Hi, I can’t delete a resident which has the same name as the main resident. I have been through the data removal process but it isn’t shown there. How do I get rid of a second resident with the same name?

You can't delete the Island Rep to the best of my memory, so you can't make a mistake due to having a same name.

Can you start the game as the other resident and see if the option shows up? If the Nintendo account that owns the player has been deleted from the Switch, I think you just need to create a new one, and then link it when starting the game for the first time under that account.

I think they're talking about getting rid of a human villager and not the island representative. You would need to boot the game up under that resident/the Mii profile you used. And before starting the game when the title screen comes up you would have to look for the more options part. Which can be accessed with the - button.

Be sure this is what you want to do because it is irreversible.

Thanks for the replies but I have done that. There is the main island representative called ‘Bertie’ and another islander called ‘Bertie’ they both have their own tents but I can’t delete the other one by going to the settings at the start of the game when it loads up because it doesn’t show the other resident!

Right. I know. They mentioned having the same name, so I figured they were worried about picking the wrong name. That's why I said they can't make a mistake.

Unlike past games, like New Leaf, players are controlled by the Switch profile that created them. They don't all show up as options when you start the game. You have to start the game as the profile that created the character. Have you done that?

If you deleted the profile that used to be for that islander you can create a new Switch profile and load NH. When you do so, it will ask if you want to create a new island resident or connect the profile to an existing islander.
