I just thought of a certain scenario and wanted to hear people's thoughts on it! What if, after you are pretty much finished with your island, you decided that you wanted to take it in an entirely different direction. Whole different theme, different villagers, different decor, different layout, etc. Would you do the work to rebuild it? Or just reset your game entirely?

I feel like at that point, it would be less work simply to wipe your save data and start fresh. Rather than packing everything up, re-terraforming the whole island, moving every single building, cycling villagers out....But what about you?

I’d restart and just TT. Completing then deciding to change it all sounds like way more of a headache. Just trade people for the stuff you need if you can’t find it as quick as you’d like.

Rebuild, never reset for me personally. There's no way I'm going to cast aside all my gathered DIYs, bells, resources, items I've catalogued and everything else. I'd much rather put in the time rebuilding, because the additional hassle of getting all my items back, plus terraforming is too much of a pain.

For reference:
I have over 700m bells, countless stacks of materials, an extremely large hybrid flower factory... I'm too established now to reset my island. My storage has over 1.3k items. Besides, I find certain joy in actually terraforming; it's a good feeling to construct your island and look at your beautiful work.

Think I'd cry if I reset, actually.

I would rebuild my island. It's a pain but much better than starting fresh in my opinion. I can't imagine trying to work for everything all over again. Heck. No.

I wasn't happy with my playstyle so I reset and honestly have no regrets right now. I'm having a blast and have so much to do now because my current island is only 3 days old and I'm forcing myself to take my time. This time I also went with a dreamy list and about half of my new village will consist of villagers I've never met before and some I didn't know existed. I'm trying to gently guide myself into trying new things in general right now. I'm not changing every single little detail but a lot is different and I like it. Feels like a new game.

It is hard! I would not want to reset because i will lose all the museum progress and all the diys and such. I would only reset for things i cant change like the name of the island or the location of the rs building.

I would rebuild. Unless you want to TT, that first week and a half is BRUTAL. Not to mention all the recipes you'll have to get back. I feel like this game makes it easier because you can move stuff around and aside from ramps and bridges, there are no public work projects that you are tied to like NL.

I wouldn't/couldn't bring myself to reset. I have too many hard earned bells, DIYS, fish/bugs/fossils found. For the first time in my life, I'm almost finished my fossil collection ;m;
Also, I tore down and rebuilt my island a week ago! I said I wouldn't do a theme, but the way I'm splitting my town up gives me room for any new ideas that comes my way~ Even though was stressful, doing everything over was refreshing!

There's so many things that I'd miss if I reset so I can't bring myself to do it but I really want to. 😭 I I've rebuilt my island a few times now and it makes me feel a little better for a while but there's only so much in the game that you can change. I want to change my plaza position and my beaches and my town name and I can't do that unless I reset.

I would just rebuild. I'm very happy with almost all of the permanent aspects of my island, so there's no reason for me to restart and lose everything I worked hard for. I would rather build everything down and back up again slowly than having to get all these hard to get DIYs and catch anxiety inducing bugs like the scorpion and tarantula again.
