Deciding town names is the hardest thing

D| Seriously, I had a HUGE list of town names for when I reset my main town, and I've cut down the names to ones I like and now I hate them all. ;__; Why can't I find a town name I liiiike.

Well, because it's the fact that you know you're going to be stuck with that name until the end of time. It's also the reason why naming your kid is a very tedious decision haha. Try looking online for suggestions or try brain storming a bit more. Try with subjects and topics you take an interest in for starters (if you haven't already done that that is).

Try naming it after some place in a movie, video game, book, etc! Both my new and my old towns were named after Pokemon towns!

Try to refrain from a generic name. I named my main town Paradise and kinda regret it.

Otherwise look at stuff you like. For example, science? Name it after a star or something.

Avoid common names dude. The most common town names I see alllllllllll the time are
Kanto
Hoenn
Hyrule <- jesus so many

I always named my town the same thing every time
Starland
Yeah I know is a cheesy name but I have had that name in my vary first town so I name all my towns Starland
So if this is not first animal crossing game try doing something like that

I try to avoid Pokemon/LoZ town names. I played more Pokemon than I did LoZ (I mean, I got that really awesome LoZ 3DS /not the XL one/ that came with OoT and I played it once, got stuck in the great Deku Tree and stopped, farthest I got was getting the actual Ocarina. >u>). I've tried finding names of places from TV shows/movies I like, but most of them are actual places, never actually state the name, or have a name that's too long for NL. My main is currently Cosmos (cause wow that show <3 and I love space) but I'm not a huge fan of it being a town name. I tried going for some cute foods but eeeeh.

It is hard. It took me forever to pick my town names. Seaside I picked out when I heard of New Leaf in 2011 haha. So finally my third town I used it.

I've tried thinking of town names from games I like, ei: Pokemon (mostly avoided), Mario, DigDug (if there even was a name for the world), Wario Ware, pretty much any old school Nintendo games. Really nothing sticks qAq

You could always merge names and words you like to make them into something new or add something to the end of them that is found is place names to make it sounds more town-like. There's also an ACNL town name generator somewhere if you're interested, you could play around with it a bit and see if you found something you like or combine names you got from it.

The week I waited for my game to arrive I spent hours thinking of different names for my town and made a whole list. I was about to go with "Snowdrop" which was the name of my old WW town. By the time I actually got the game, I just named it after my favourite bar in my neighbourhood.

Well I try and base my town name off the villagers sometimes, but usually not the case. I do rather enjoy space, and Cosmos is a pretty nice town but not to big on the name. I just finished designing an album cover for my boyfriend called "Searcing All Galaxies And Nebula" (SAGAN, like Carl Sagan yo) so Nebula has been added to my mix of names. Currently I have listed:

Sugarush
Sodapop
Cinnamon
Caramel
Nebula
Nova
Aperture
Comet
Corona

That's about all I have currently since I haven't been really looking.

Well now I'm considering either naming my town after a cute food idea (my friend suggested Cakepop) or after my dog Haven. So those are some ideas as well.
