I'm really not sure whether I should reset. I really hate my town layout, including the location of the police station, campsite and my house, and I don't find playing fun anymore.

I do have a second town and I really enjoy playing on that town, but I really dread going onto my first town. The only reason I go on is to see if my villagers are okay because I love practically all of them. Every day my family ask if me villagers are okay, if my town is going well etc. and this is restricting me from resetting. This is because they know that I've spent hours on the town, and they don't want to see it all be wasted.

I originally had plans to reset my town before I got a second copy and promised myself that I wouldn't reset because I now had 2 towns, but I want to enjoy playing both towns, not just one.

I accomplished all of my goals for my first town like getting a perfect town status, unlocking all of the shops and getting my dreamies etc, and now I don't have anything to do really... doing requests for villagers are the only things that I can do now.

I tried to plan out PWP's, but my town still looks awful in my opinion. Today I tried demolishing lots of PWP's, but I still can't find anything that I like about it.

I did try to get Curlos (my favourite villager) to move out of my first town and move into my second, and although I tried for hours, I still couldn't get him to move. I don't want to lose him.

What I'm basically saying is - I really want to reset, but -

1) My mum said to stick at it and just play for a while, although I want to reset now.

2) I don't want to lose all of my hard work. I've had my town for nearly six months but I don't find it fun anymore. You're supposed to find the game fun, aren't you?

Please tell me what you think, and hopefully I'll be able to make a decision soon :)

and I don't find playing fun anymore.

It's pretty obvious in my opinion. This game is supposed to be fun, if you're not having fun then what's the point? You can obtain your villagers again. Also you have a second town, maybe you can transfer them between towns?

In my opinion you should. You said you don't have anything else to do, why keep playing then? Start fresh and have fun!

If the game is not fun what's the point of having it? Also who is playing the game - you or your mum? I get that you value her opinion, but it simply makes no sense to play a game to make someone else happy instead of yourself.

like others have said, whats the point if the game isnt fun for you anymore? i honestly would just reset; everything can be obtained again, and who knows? maybe a new town will become your favourite town...but if you do decide to reset, i suggest you try and work out details first. such as what type of layout you want, any and all plans for landscaping, if you want the town to have a theme, etc

I agree with the points everyone else has made, especially regarding planning ahead. Is your mum possibly so invested in you keeping *that* town because she wants you to develop more responsibility and keep up with your commitments better - in her eyes - in RL? A couple things you wrote just seemed to me like this might be where she's coming from.

If so, then you can handle those concerns talking with your mum and

a) laying out your reasons for restarting the town, which you essentially have - just need to highlight the things you've learned from your experience til now and why resetting won't see all that time be "wasted" as you have just outgrown this town and need a new one to challenge your designing/landscaping skills in. You have essentially "finished" the game at the point you are at; moving on is a normal part of life and hanging onto this town that you no longer like playing would be counterproductive to both the point of playing a game (fun) and growing up in general. You still have the memories and any photos you took (I suggest taking as many as you can if you haven't already), as well as your Dream Address (you have one right?) which will remain accessible to you for quite some time after you've reset - idk how long exactly but there are threads you can search up here or try googling and I'm sure there'll be plenty of info so you can still pop back to visit your old town if you want to. You know what your mum values and wants to hear, just find the right words to help her see your perspective here.

and

b) working out what you want to do once you reset your town. You don't need all the nitty-gritty details but the more you can demonstrate you've thought this through and you are committed to your decision, the more your mum should (hopefully) calm down and let you move on. This will also help allay any fears that you will regret resetting your town once you've done so which may be another factor. If you don't know what theme or town or anything you want yet, that fine too, just make sure that you have some kind of plan moving forward - are you intending to cycle through maps until you find one with any particular feature? If so, start there and note down anything else you want - or don't want. This will help you, too, of course as you will be able to refer back to your notes when you're starting your new town. Which will be awesome, I'm sure!

If not ... then idk why it would matter to her so much but I would offer to let my mum play it for me if she kept caring about the town to the point of not wanting me to reset..

Hope the suggestions help you work out what to do and you find a way to have 2 towns you enjoy playing. Good luck!

:)

Thank you, everyone! I did in the end reset, and I feel great about it! My mum did say that it was my decision, so I was pleased about that. Hopefully I'll begin to enjoy the game again like I did before :D

Enjoy your new town! :)

Your layout is gonna continue to bug you until you eventually reset. Might as well do it now imo.

- whoops, saw you already reset.

I think you have two options in my mind:
1)Reset your town;
2)Destroy everything you can destroy in your town by using an axe, a shovel and your mayor powers and restart landscaping your town.
I think you shoul choose the second option, if you reset, you will fell guilty, probably, and you could even stop playing Animal Crossing New Leaf ! While if you don't reset maybe you will play more and you won't feel guilty !
However, the most important thing is that you have fun with ACNL, so don't feel forced to choose the second option and just do what your heart tells you to do.
~Good luck.
