Hey guys, I'm resetting my town for a brand new start in Animal Crossing marking my adventures here on The Bell Tree. So I want to know what are your deal breakers when looking at a town map (Other than the obvious "bad town layout)

Mine are:
-Pond in front of Train Station
-Town Fruit of Oranges
-Town Fruit of Pears

Mine would have to be more than two ponds, oranges, cherries (I get them all the time, I'm sick of looking at them), a right-side beach, a Re-Tail on the top side of the map or a plaza in a weird/tucked-away place. Oh, and a really squiggly river.

But my town right now happens to have a pond and a rock right below the train station, which isn't as bad as I thought it would be, and it also has oranges. Everything else was just so perfect I had to take it ;^; You kind of grow to love the imperfections though xD

NL is my first AC game and I just went with whatever town map he gave me. But I lucked out because in the future my deal breakers (none of which actually happened on my random map) are:

- Plaza and Town Hall aren't next to each other
- Broken up beach
- No good location for my house (I like having a really secluded area for my main house)

I also got cherries as my town fruit which are my favourite! So I'd probably only want them as town fruit in the future :)

I just reset for over 2 hours last night trying to find a town. Finally found one with a decent map and at least one of my dreamies as starting villagers. I usually look for a town with Re-Tail on the bottom of the map, close to the beach ramp for quick trips after beetle hunting, no more than 2 ponds and town fruit other than pears.

I usually look for a map with a private beach and a good river division. I also don't care which fruit I get.

I like having imperfect maps, it stimulates creativity. (Example: When you have a pond in front of your train station, you can't just go straight down like most people do. But why would you want that anyway? Why not make a path parallel to the train tracks, going in front of the station and over the lake? Heck, you could even make the lake a pretty sight!)

I also don't give a walrus about fruit, I always end up with one of each and a bunch of normal trees anyway.

Deal breakers: I reset for nearly 2 days (10+ hours a day and hundreds of maps)

- annoying stones/pond in front of train station
-stone in an area where I would eventually want to place all my residents
- no secluded area for my houses/camp
- small strip of land
- fruits other than buttfruit ahuehue
- dreamie starter (I already had all of my dreamies in my cycling town, ready for plot resetting)
- any ponds other than re-tail pond
- re-tail too far away from dock
- townhall not at the top with room for police station on one side

Yeah I was picky but I am absolutely in love with my map. I'll probably post my map after I finish plotting Stitches u v u

I think my only deal breaker would have to be to have a tiny strip of land somewhere, but I could even work around that if I had to. It wouldn't really be a big deal.

I'm also one of those people who just picked the first map that was given to them, not knowing I could choose any others. Still, I am very happy with my map. Some wouldn't consider it as such, as there are 3 ponds and quite a few rocks in annoying places, but it also builds character and gives me some things to try to work around. I'll usually be more proud of myself for being able to make it look good, even though there are quite a few imperfections. :3

- Pond right in front of train station. I swear the amount of times I kept getting these!
- The river winding all over the place
- Broken up beach
- Oranges. I had these as native fruit in every other game, enough with the oranges already.

I reset my second town until it came with one of my dreamies. After aligning my house perfectly next to theirs I was quite happy.
I managed to avoid the pond situation, the river is a bit too windy and there are more rocks than I would have liked but I don't mind it now. The cherries (now perfect cherries) and the strip of land at the bottom where I placed all the villagers to keep them together made up for it.

For me I need the town layout to (briefly) be like this:

-Not too many ponds, less than 2
-A simple river, not curvy and all over the place
-Town plaza as close to the centre of town as possible (I think that looks best)
-Long beach with vertical slope

I had a few criteria when I made my town:
- undivided beach
- town hall north of event plaza (not directly behind it, just... a straight line between the two xD)
- re-tail close to the docks
- no pears or oranges

my re-tail is still a little far away, but it's at least not right next to my train station like last time
but i like how my town is structured now so i don't really care anymore xD
