Days in order animals move in?

Hey! I don't know where to post this really so I'll put it here!
Okay so my question is, is there an order in which animals move in?
Let's say you just started the game which is day 1. Days 2 usually there is someone that moves in (ex.Vesta). After day2, when does someone move in? 2 days after Vesta moved in or 1 days after her?
Sorry if it's not clear, not too sure how to ask!

Day 1 - Start as Mayor
Day 2 - A new plot has been set up
Day 3 - That villager will move in
Day 4 - That villager will now be settled in
Day 5 - A new plot has been set up (this may be merged with day 4, it's been a while since I reset)

And it will repeat

Does it not depends? I always start a new save file to see if anyone placed a plot in a place I really disliked. If there isn't I just quit and start as mayor, but for some reason it's been days and no ones moved in yet. Only a couple of people via tents have showed up but I didn't really like them.
