It's not really forced. Not like "COME OUT OR DIE"
But more like.. Valentine's Day. You can have a valentine if you want to, or you don't need one.
Or like easter or really any other holiday.

you date someone on Valentines day and then without a warning not send them something mention the day or do anything special and see what happens. >_<

Err.. I've experienced that before.. Except it was the other way around.
