Cutting down all trees?

Okay so I recently finally started up my second copy of New Leaf because I have enough time, so like always when starting a new town there's a mess of trees everywhere and it's just tedious when you have ideas. I also own a golden axe, so I'm thinking I should cut down all my trees, dig up all my stumps etc. and then in turn begin acquiring and planting saplings/apple, peach, cherry, trees.

So my question is, should I just cut them all town for the time being?
Has anyone else done this?
Will my villagers mention it with anger?

I would, a clean slate is always helpful.

I did this almost immediately when I restarted and got into my new town. Villagers won't mention the lack of trees, but not having might cause a raffelasia to pop up.

Nah the villagers wont care, to make the job quicker though id use a chain saw

It's easier to just cut everything down and plant things where you want them again. Most people seem to agree on that. Personally, I like to cut down the trees I don't want as I go. The villagers won't care, though they will complain about the lack of greenery to Isabelle.

I didn't do it this way in my main town because I was going for perfect. But if you plan on re-landscaping in a decently fast amount of time I think it would be much more helpful.

Your citizens will be unhappy about a bare town though and if you ask Isabelle, she will tell you about it.

@molas Doesn't raffelasia only appear when there's weeds though?

@matt haha i wish

@floofyunicorn i'm convinced isabelle makes stuff up, my villagers wouldn't be so rude lmao

@freckles well landscaping is probably going to take really long time since i've not unlocked any pwps yet, but i can always just replant and cut down, i don't really value saplings that highly.

Nope.

I didn't have any weeds here, just not too many trees.

a rafflesia can appear when your town is too bare, meaning, no weeds, trees, flowers, pwps, bushes, etc. and trash on the ground doesn't help either.

oh okay thanks. when i first saw the plant in someone's town i thought it was a pwp, but it seems harmful, so i guess i'll be planting tons of flowers to make up for the tree

Every time I start a new town, the first thing I do is level every tree. It's just easier to navigate through the town if I can see every thing...

I just restarted my 2nd cartridge for a new permanent town & I'm slowly replanting trees, starting with perfect fruit trees along the top of the town. Once I get the garden shop, I'll add more trees & really start landscaping.

It's not really harmful to anything other than your town rating, and the fact that it can be in the way, but the latter can be fixed by throwing a character house on top of it. It'll respawn the next day though, so it's a temporary fix if it might be in the way of where you want a villager's house or a PWP.

all cuz i did too just plant new ones were u want to be like i did

ur new right

I have cut down every tree in my town before... but for a completely different purpose. I wanted to catch the tarantula and without the tree bugs, the tarantula definitely spawned more. I noticed no complaints from villagers (or any other weird phenomena) whatsoever.

I've kept all my trees and only cut them down when I need to for a path or something. I think it's worked out well for me, and it's saved time.

i don't think i saw this mentioned, but if you have a golden shovel (or borrow one) and bury 1k bell bags then you can grow regular trees (so you don't have to buy over-priced regular saplings from someone else)
