Custom Paths or Original Paths?

i’m trying to decide whether to use the OG paths or some custom ones. i also want to hear all your thoughts on this

I went with original. I saved 9 custom tiles for a helipad and really dont have any to spare.

personal designs are fun, and custom designs from online often look very cute/pretty/nice,
but there's just something about that click clack sound when walking that keeps me from going custom

I do use custom design paths on my beach and rocks ^-^

I'd just finished adding custom border patterns to my stone paths when somebody posted 'the path' on here. I managed to resist for a month or so, mostly because of the time and effort I knew was going to be involved, but I finally took the plunge, scrapped my previous paths, and redesigned half my island to accommodate 'the path'...and it's made my island look ten times better!

For a forest island like mine, nothing else compares, really.

I like to mix and match at the moment. The sound of the original in game paths are pretty great, so if you use custom designs then you do miss out on the little tip tap of your character's feet, as they run around your island. Due to the loss of sound, I prefer to use custom designs in more foresty/muddy areas, like my campsite, orchard and flower area. Since the custom paths also make a squelchy sound when you walk or run on them, it makes much more sense in certain areas like those, as opposed to having a big brick/metal walkway that sounds like mud when you run across it haha. However, you have got to keep in mind that some custom paths can take up A LOT of space in your custom design slots, so you'd have to stick to one or two custom paths at a time on your island, which is again why I think using a mix of custom and original paths makes the most sense here.

Why not both? I like the cobblestone and the arch stone default paths for my developed areas. I like using the path for my woodsy area. I use custom for my boardwalk.

I use both! The path for the campsite and some stones scattered around. The other areas are OG

I prefer original paths for walking around. Not hearing my footsteps doesn't seem right to me. I've been saving my design slots for things other than paths, such as a picnic blanket, wall hangings, or panel inserts.

I use custom paths overlayed onto original paths so it shows up as paths on the map. I miss the sound of walking on original paths though

I still like the look and sound of original paths so I use them as my main for the most part then use some custom paths as support.

I use the default stone path with custom borders. I really wish there was a way to set a noise or a setting to turn off the weird rubbery custom border noise

While I love the look of custom paths I don’t like the sound. I use the original paths so I get the nice sound and I like the look of the terracotta, wood and cobblestone paths.

I have a mix of both right now! I think I prefer my custom paths in some places, but in others they feel like they're a bit unnecessary. For example, I have the regular dirt paths around my campsite, but custom ones in my shopping area. I also have a few custom designs that work with the default patterns (i.e. wooden steps for the wood path, etc.). I love a mix, but I voted for custom designs because I like those a bit more!

I use both. It's fun to mix it up. I like to use custom paths for a certain look the original paths can't create.

I use a combination of both, I haven’t tried designing my own but I feel like they wouldn’t be that great so I just use some patterns created by others here and there and then the original paths in larger/main areas of my island
