Hey there Belltreeforums!
I saw a post earlier about crazy work stories by HellenKeller and wondered if people had any crazy travel stories! (Warning the guy in this story says some pretty rude things)
Here?s mine:
This past summer I went to Toronto to visit my Aunty and cousin. It?s about a 2 hour flight from the closest airport and I get stuck in the middle seat. Now, to my right is this old man and by his feet is this fabric pet carrier. There?s a cute toy pomeranian and it has quite of bit of space for a dog it?s size. It can easily stand, lay down and move around in this carrier. The old man however looks super irritated and he calls a flight attendant over. This super sweet flight attendant comes over and the first thing he says to her is ?Why can?t I take my f***ing dog out of the carrier and put her on my lap?!? The flight attendant tried to explain the rules. This dog wasn?t a service dog and he didn?t have an paperwork stating he needed the dog outside. I mean, they can?t just have a dog running around the plane. Also, when he bought the ticket, he was agreeing to the airline?s rules.
This GROWN MAN would not take no for an answer, he started cursing out this poor flight attendant (who is just trying to do her job) with every insult in the book. He even said ? I KNOW HOW YOU GUYS ARE WITH YOUR RULES, YOU GUYS ARE LIKE NAZIS! HAIL HITLER!? He just didn?t do this once, there were 2 flight attendants and the captain on the flight and he repeated this hissy fit with everyone of them. He was eventually told to smarten up or he would get kicked off the plane and that kept him quiet for a while. This is all before we get off the ground! Once we?re actually in the air, he starts ranting to me about how this airline is horrible and how he?s going to write an article about this on his blog, he?s going to send this story to news stations, etc. He also told me this story about how he was on a flight to Cancun and there were 12 dogs running around the plane and nobody cared one bit about 3 times during the 2 hour flight. I just smiled and nodded, I kept my cool as I didn?t want to start anything. As soon as I saw an opportunity though, I popped in my headphones and blasted my music.
Now I thought maybe the dog got anxious easily and that?s why he was freaking out but the dog was perfectly fine!! It just went to sleep for most of the flight.
Now when the plane lands, everyone does that thing where everyone tries to get up and off the plane as soon as possible even though realistically you?re still going to be on there for another 10 minutes. Normally I just sit and wait until there?s less foot traffic but not this time. I don?t think I ever booked it off a plane so fast, I did apologize to the flight attendants about this man?s behavior though. I felt bad because they were just following guidelines and trying to make sure everyone had a good flight.
I?m not sure if it?s good karma or what but on my flight home, I ended up getting out in the ?first class? seats with more leg room and a free snack even though I didn?t pay extra or pick out my seats before hand!
Do you have any crazy travel stories? I would love to hear them!
