Okay okay hear me out on this one. Crankies may come off as creepy old men when you first meet them but after befriending them, they're just the sweetiest. They always look out for you and send the sweetest letters. Here's one from Rooney.

"How have you been feeling lately? If you're worrying about something you can't talk about face-to-face, just ask for my advice in a letter. It might help! Just try it!"

For someone who plays ACNL for help with anxiety and depression, these letters mean a whole lot to me. I've gotten a lot more from him and Rolf but like a dummy never saved them. Have any of you guys noticed this? How cranky villagers are so sweet? Don't get me wrong, Francine and Skye and Eugene are also sweethearts but its always the crankies that cheer me up the most.

In Wild World you're right, they are a lot crankier (I'm talking to you, Octavian) but I still cant help but know that no matter what they care about you more than anyone else

In Gamecube they were the crankiest. It really took some work to make them warm up in that version. Admiral became such a favorite in my Gamecube town that when he moved out I kind of lost interest until WW came out. And it just wasn't the same in WW, even though I really liked that game. All the personalities are more uniform in ACNL I've noticed, and they're all pretty friendly from the start. omg, the Snooties in Gamecube said some of the most awful things lol.

I kind of miss their meanness haha. I mean, I don't want to be berated or anything, but everyone is just too nice in New Leaf. I've had a couple snooty villagers and there wasn't really anything snooty about them. I miss their sass haha.

Crankies are the best, honestly. They always seem like gruff big brothers. I had Rolf back when I played city folk, and Avery in one of my acnl towns. I love them both.

I love the crankies! Chief sent me a similar letter a day or so ago, I have it saved with the office, it was very sweet (and actually relevant since I'm going through some stuff irl so getting that letter on a bad day cheered me up a bit). I still miss Avery from my first town, he was so nice to me and always sent nice letters. I think I'll try to get him back after Goldie moves hm..

This is about as cranky as Apollo gets, though, unless you bug him about 3 dozen times, which I did once. He kept his cool for a long time, then went into "thought" mode...no photo of that, though. (I'm not proud of it...)

Yeah, I loveeee crankies! New Leaf is the first Animal Crossing game I've ever played. My first cranky was T-Bone, and I didn't like him much, so at first I thought I didn't like crankies in general. However, what made me dislike him in the first place was that I thought he was calling me a moocher, but "moocher" is just his catchphrase. lmao I was like, "I'M the moocher?? You're the one asking me for stuff all the time bro" lol I learned about catchphrases and stuff like a week later.

Anyway, I think cranky is my favorite personality type now as well, after a lot of good experiences. I never experienced the other games, but I think snooties can be relatively mean. haha Not awful, but yeah lol Olivia has said some rude stuff to me about my clothes hahaha

Snooties are too. They appear to be cocky towards you at the first meet. But once they get to know you they are sweet.
