Honestly, I don't really like doing tier lists given I haven't had probably about half of these villagers in a town of mine ever. In New Leaf for example, I only ever had 2 Cranky villagers in my town and neither ever moved out. But, I tend to like most of the cranky villagers. I only really dislike the ones at the very bottom tier. My favorite Cranky overall is either Apollo (who I had in WW) or Fang (who I had in NL).
I just reset my town and haven't gotten to the post-campsite plots yet, so I'm curious to see who my first Cranky will end up being there.

Since the cranky villagers act like old guys I've ranked them using old guy stuff with "cold beer" being my favorite.

I forgot how many good crankies there are!
It's so hard to tier the crankies for me because I love them overall... but here's my top 5 I would say S-tier crankies:
1. Cyd
2. Hamphrey
3. Marlo
4. Hopper
5. Roscoe
and honorable mention/tie: Rolf/Admiral

Cranky is one of my favorite personalities.
I originally had about a dozen more in neutral, but most of them were bumped up to Appealing once I'd actually had them in my village. 1, Frank, was bumped all the way up to Dreamy once I tried him. So many good Crankies.

A lot in D, a lot in C. I don't like most of cranky villagers because they look old and not that nice. I don't like most of the appareances.
Kabuki though is wonderful. His idea is fabulous. I love theater and Asian theater so giving him that theme is soooo nice! And secondly comes Wolfgang. I had him on an old town (WW I suppose) I remember him very well. Same for Static. I have good memories with him.
Other wolfs are amazing. I love wolves in this game. They are super good-looking! Roscoe was also on an old account so good memories again.
I love octopuses so hello Octavian, nice to meet you.
Finally, Cyd. I love his little head.

Tom's my favorite cranky, and it pleases me to see that he gets a lot of love by those that like cranky villagers. He really deserves it. I'd say Bruce comes a close second (and most of the non-cranky deer villagers), followed by Roscoe, Apollo, and Wolfgang. I like a lot of the other wolf villagers as well, but they're in the second tier down because I've never had them (Wolfgang as well, though I think he's the best one based off looks). Oddly enough, most of the ones with stubbles or beards I haven't really cared too much about, but that's just my opinion.

Yes, Rizzo is in fact the top of my list, as the sole occupant of the tier called "Perfection." He is a criminally underrated villager with an awesome design, and he is my second favorite villager in the whole series only falling closely behind Mitzi. My list bottoms out at "Neutral" instead of dislike/hate because I honestly don't really dislike any villagers aside from maybe a couple of them for admittedly petty reasons. These are in no particular order within their tier, with the exception of Cyrano who is listed first in the "Love" tier because he is my favorite cranky behind Rizzo.

Here is my tier list, cranky is my most favorite villager personality.
I've played since ACWW and yet so many i haven't met
howwww??I put all of those in B tier, like neutral feelings.
Haven't met Marlo either but I absolutely love his design lol.
Bruce was one of my first villagers in ACNL and in ACNH I was so glad to find him too!
Wolfgang has been in every village i had since acww
i was 12 then and had now idea about popular villagers but thought he was so cool!!Special mention to kabuki who was the first ever ever cranky villager i got in Acww, haven't seen him since but still think he is the coolest!

i’m not the biggest fan of the crankies’ designs, but i’m neutral at most to a lot of them. some of them were placed in higher tiers not just because of my opinion on their design, but because of memories i have of/with them (ex. i have fond memories of static in wild world, and i watched someone play city folk on youtube who had rasher, and i liked the voice they did for him when they read his dialogue/letters out loud).
