I think it'd be super cool if there was a crafting skill in the new Animal crossing. By collecting materials and recipes, you can craft anything from furniture to clothes. Some items could only be obtained by crafting etc. Materials can be found from Balloons, cracks in the ground, as rewards for doing favors, shaken from trees etc. Some NPC's could even sell them like Able sisters could such crafting materials for clothes, Retail for furniture etc. Recipes could also be found in similar ways. Perhaps retail could also "junk" objects into scrap material.

And as a new form of recipes, we can collect recipes for food, which gives us a use for insects/fruits/fish etc as well as new ingredients. There would be a new store as a Restaurant, where you could hang out with animals/friends and order food and learn new recipes. If you have a kitchen/stove at home you could always use that as well, but this is your main hub. We would need a special NPC dedicated to it, so we could create a new one, or use Wendell since he has an obsession with food. Maybe we could even combine the Cafe/Restaurant and have Brewster in his own corner.

Only thing I'm stumped on is what kinds of benefits foods could offer. They could be eaten for fun, or given to villagers to raise friendship, but what other rewards could they add? Perhaps they're more valuable than their components, so they sell for decent money. Maybe the food could be sold to the special restaurant NPC in a new form of currency and unlockables?

They could also change Harvest Fest to tie into this new skill so you cook food for the event. I mean you basically do that already in new leaf, but this would have a dedicated cooking system, and giving good food's to Franklin would give harvest furniture and other unique rewards.

Feel free to add your own thoughts/opinions, I've had this idea for a while and would love to see it implemented :)

This is making me think of skyrim for some dumb reason.
The elder scrolls six: Animal Crossing

Love this!! I always love when video games have a cooking skill

Cooking would be a fine addition. It would be another way to pass time albeit with less daily responsibility attached. I also really like the idea of a restaurant building, be it in town/Main Street/City/whatever is in AC: Switch.

i feel like this could make or break animal crossing since it would feel really similar to games like harvest moon or stardew valley. but i also love the idea of crafting and cooking stuff so i'm all for it

I...I never really liked such an idea for Animal Crossing. Like it's not a bad idea at all but just...not for Animal Crossing it's just not the game, same for cooking like idk I just can not see it being in the game for some reason.
Like keep the craft things in Pocket Camp plez :(

I would only like cooking in animal crossing, beyond that I don't actually want more crafting than currently.

I would however like if Sable and Labelle offered customisation to clothes and accesories but I'm really not into actually crafting it myself.

The only reason I give cooking the green flag is because of HOW perfect the botw system was and how enjoyable it was to use.

I also don't like the restaurant idea sadly... I like the cafe but the cafe is like.. the upper limits of acceptable minigames like that for me. I think more than that breaks the tone of the game and makes it something entirely different. The same way pocket camp doesn't feel like an animal crossing game should at all because the content is just way too different.

I think instead of just always asking for fruit, your villagers could ask you to prepare a specific meal for them and you'd have to go around and collect ingredients, a bit like the Thanksgiving event but not as difficult.

I've been thinking og crafting coffee in Animal Crossing. You can't do anything with coffee beans in New Leaf so why not use it to make your own coffee without going to Brewster?

I've also had an idea of making shakes, which would work exactly like coffee (so it wouldn't give you any special effects). You could use fruits and a mixer that already is in the game to make shakes. There could be different types of shakes and depending on what fruits you use you will get a diffferent shake.

That's all crafting stuff I'd like in a game (not sure if these ideas count as crafting thought but I think it's still a neat idea to see in a game).

I would love for there to be a cooking skill, that sounds wonderful!

That reminds me of The Sims, where you can develop skills for each hobby you partake in. I think a gardening skill could be cool, and maybe the more you garden, the more likely you are to have a rare flower spawn in your garden or somewhere in town? Just a thought.
