Could I have some town advice?

Hi. I'm trying to set my town in a "Taiga" mood. It needs to have a lot of cedars (I can pretend that they're pine trees), and a specific set of PWPs as well as villager species. I just wan to know if anyone has an opinion on what I should/shouldn't do. Thanks!

If you want to visit my town, the name of it is Ostrel (pretty sure it's the only one).

PS- if you do take time to visit, please note that the ugly brick pattern on the ground is temporary, and is only being used for creating dirt paths

Really? Nobody?
You don't need to actually visit, I'd just like it if someone would give me some tips.

I'd say wolves, deer, bears, or Christmas-themed villagers (if those exist) would be great to have to add to the theme.

yeah. i would go for lots of cedar trees. as for flowers, im not sure. i wouldnt do something bold like yellow roses haha.

as for villagers i agree with the poster above me.
as for pwp, go for log benches! i thought of building a wisteria but that probably wont match your theme.

i wish you good luck! ^^

Yeah, I say go for the pansies for flowers. They're very simple but still nice to look at.

As for villagers -- bears, cubs, deer, and eagles would be very fitting. Ones with natural colors/markings would work well.

I would make the town's PWPs wooden themed; wooden bridges, wooden clocks, wooden benches.

You'll need a lot cedar trees, but I think they only grow in the northern parts of town. Cherry trees and apple trees would look nice, maybe even peach trees and pear trees as well. I would keep the flowers to roses, pansies, tulips, cosmos, and maybe violets. Lilies wouldn't be very fitting.

Good luck!

creating a boreal forest would be super neat but remember that pines do not grow on the lower half of the map.

I personally only grow pines in the way way north and put a lot of holly around them. It would also be neat to have a few dead trees and special stumps that grow mushrooms. as for villagers, I think it would be neat to have at least one predator like a wolf or a bear like grizzly.

I already turned off my game for the night but i'll check out your town tomorrow

I am tempted to visit your town, but already I can tell you that any more outdoorsy type PWP's would be good. Fire pit, torch, streetlight, campsite, bus stop, log bench, totem pole, lots of trees and only a specific type of flower, dirt paths, etc.

I'd agree that pansies are probably best.

Thanks!
Do cedars not grow at all in the south, or is it just unlikely?

I had a cool idea of setting up a bonfire and placing a log bench or two around it, along with a totem pole. That would look pretty neat and fitting.

I wanted to do something like that too. I built a log bench and planned to put stumps all around it in a circle with a bonfire in the middle. I had that image in my head since day one! Sadly, no one has requested a bonfire yet.

oh and a hammock would fit your town perfectly too!

Yeah, a hammock would be pretty neat. I also really like that idea of stumps as stools, I totally forgot that you can sit on them.

And this doesn't really relate to taigas (unless you're talking about Canada) then I thought it would be cool to sort of build a forest out of cedars in the north, then have a medium-sized patch (7-14 stumps) of chopped trees with a drilling rig near the area. That would add a sort of outside influence industrial feel.

I'm not sure about the cedar trees in New Leaf, but I'm assuming it's the same. In City Folk, they could only grow in the top few acres of your town..

Hmm.. It's a little restricting, but it kind if makes sense. Seaside cedars would be a bit odd.

You...You can build more than one? Hoooooh....Oh man. I'm gonna have fun when my cranky villager asks me about a drilling rig.

On a side note, who would be a better bear? I'm trying to decide between Groucho, Grizzly, and Vladimir. I know a lot of people like Vladimir, but I think he's a great character. Him being pink only makes him better. I don't like pink, but it's really ironic, seeing as how Vlad is a fairly masculine bear and pink is a color normally associated with feminism.

I didn't know that either! Looks like I'll be building more wind turbines for my futuristic town.

As for which bear, I think Grizzly would be the best. But it's up to you.

i currently have grizzly in my town. I like him a lot but if he asks to move, I can hand him over to you if you want. he is the perfect natural color of a bear
