Is there a reason why the ACNL game is so easily corrupted? I've rarely, if ever, heard of other 3DS games being corrupted so frequently unless something was inappropriately modified. Any thoughts on why this happens?

From personal experience, I've ejected the cartridge of my Kid Icarus Uprising game while it was still playing countless times and it still works fine even though it literally saves at every screen change. ACNL just seems so prone to malfunction in the most random moments.

I bet it's just a matter of how the game saves. I'm not sure about the specifics of it, but while you can digitally back up saves of other games trying to do that with Animal Crossing New Leaf just results in some mismatched data and I guess it just refuses to handle it.

That's just what I read, anyway. I don't know anymore than the average person about the specifics of Animal Crossing's save system.

Ah well that's unfortunate. Was this happening with the other AC games too? I've only played ACWW and ACNL and both worked fine.

I'm not sure. This is my first game in the series. My copy hasn't corrupted yet, thankfully. *knocks on wood*

I also find this strange. I have never had any game corrupt on me except for ACNL.

Sometimes its the cart, sometimes the 3DS, and sometimes the SD card...or just bad luck. The game's save is too big to back up on any 3DS, and well what do you expect with a big save. There are many ways you can stuff it up...

I really wish you could back up your data in some way. Maybe you'd be forced to start again at the time of the last back up, but other than the date, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do it. If you time travel, sometimes the things you have in your town and the date don't add up (since the game is based on days and less on calendar dates).

I have a feeling that a lot of the "corruptions" that happen here aren't always true, and it's just people starting over and wanting a bunch of freebies from the kind members here. If the game actually corrupted as often and as easily as you see it appearing here, I would think nintendo would be working on some kind of fix.

Some part of me thinks some of these people with "corrupt files" just want free stuff since people on these forums are so generous. There's a new "my game is corrupt" thread so often now yet the join dates for the forums are recent. I've had my game since the release and it hasn't corrupted yet.

Exactly my thoughts :( I'm honestly suspicious of people who: 1) are new/not active on TBT; 2) didn't try to find a reason why their save is corrupted and how to fix it; 3) quick to receive donations.
There are a lot of kind users here and I feel like some people take advantage of that kindness.

And in the topic of corrupting save, can you corrupt it by turning off while saving? I've only heard corrupt save cases when they use powersave. Damaged SD card may be cause it too.

There's a thread about preventing corruption here: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?236996

My game hasn't corrupted as of yet and this is same town as when I bought in 14 June 2013. I play every day, works fine :-) maybe people who play like 10 hours everyday the game cant handle it

the main reason this happens is for the people who play it until it dies and it dies in the middle of saving or the power goes off in the middle of saving

The reason it's not a big problem with something like Kid Icarus is that it just has to save where you are, what you're carrying at the time, etc. This game has to save the entire town at once, because it doesn't at any time when you're playing (except for traveling to another town, saving your dream, and a few other exceptions), and you might have chopped down every tree, planted flowers everywhere, changed somebody's house, hurt somebody's feelings. All that stuff has to be saved, so it basically saves every aspect of your entire town. Thus, if that process is interrupted, corrupt. Or, to rephrase it:
